    I know that your question was rhetorical, cpbell0033944, but it raises a broader point. 

    How many popular male and female "singers" are there now days who are popular because they can actually sing and how many are popular because they look good/sexy? 
    Many seem to be selling an image/attitude and not so much their voice. 
    Granted, some are in the gray-zone and do have some vocal talent which can be electronically improved but would they be nearly as popular if they were not physically attractive?

    Interesting thought – trouble is, I don't think that most of them ARE terribly attractive.
