June 21, 2005 at 10:01 pm #6649Matthew LimParticipantReally great drawing, it’s good to see someone is taking up the requests. A small comment though, Veronica seems to be a little off balance. A good to way to gauge this while drawing is to keep the ‘u’ shape of the sternum directly above where the center of all the weight is at. In this case, the weight is in the right foot. You have it over the left foot which causes her to appear off balance. When drawing, a good thing to do is to either take a few steps back from the drawing or holding the drawing up to a light and looking at it through the back. By stepping back you can observe the drawing as a whole and make sure that it all works. By looking at it through the back, you look at the image ‘backwards’ where errors that aren’t apparant ‘forwards’ pop out. I hope you aren’t too angered by my criticism, but I just want to make everyone’s drawings stronger.

June 21, 2005 at 11:19 pm #6651AnonymousGuestLovely work, Strawb! Thanks for posting! I particularly like the expressions on the faces, which you’ve captured really well.

Actually, really good comments. Once I uploaded it, I realized that Veronica’s head is too large, but I didn’t see the off-balance thing. I’ll keep the sternum and the backwards picture comments in mind (especially the latter, I seem to have the “it looks wrong backwards” problem a lot).DEB: Thanks! I look forward to your sketches 🙂 Sketches, for me anyway, tend to have a different kind of perspective because I care less about how “perfect” it looks. This allows me to be more free with my pencil and open to new poses that I may use in future drawings.
RANDOM: Thanks 🙂 I didn’t want Betty to look too upset, as I wasn’t sure which character the requester liked more! I didn’t want him thinking, “Oh noes! I <3 Betty an dshe is teh saddond!” Not saying the requester talks like a n00b or anything, I just like typing like that 🙂

Maybe I should subcontract writing Mi5+4 H4X0R‘s dialogue to you… 😛
Oh, and back on topic… nice pic. 😉

The fact that I could read his name, and that I’m actually TOO 1337 for some of my friends, should show that I’m qualified enough 😀

You’ll have to excuse me I’m not myself today. I trust you’ve noticed the improvement.
