    Hi all,

    I was going through some old manips, and I found these two collage pics I had done several months ago but never posted.

    I was inspired to do these FMG-themed magazine covers by the awesome work of AlexG, whose GTS and mag cover collages you’re all familiar with 😀

    Seems that the newsstands are **filling up** with more titles – will have to **expand** my subscription list to include them . . . 8)

    By the way, a really nice touch in modifying the crossing sign w/ the Joanna Thomas cover. 😉

    Just a couple of critique tech-notes about the text you might want to keep in mind for the future. In the native Paintshop Pro or Photoshop format this isn’t a problem, but there is a noticable degrading effect when you save your file to a JPG. A couple of solutions to try are that you might have to play with your compression factor and/or font styles/sizes until you achieve success. Also, the type of color can effect it – cause it to bleed/washout into the collage, this being especially true (in my experience) of (ironically enough) certain darker shades of green. One other thing, the edges of the text (I’m assuming you’re placing it on another layer) appear a tad jaggy in the final product – either use a softening brush over the edges or better yet (my prefered method) preset the text to "Antialias" mode and they should feather in seamlessly.

    Really great collages. I never thought there was a girl that could look that similar to Kim Kilper. 😀

    I have to agree with AlexG on the text issues. That weird "pixel bleed" happens a lot when you use Photoshops default .jpeg compression system. If you use the ‘save for web’ function, it optimizes your image and compresses it into .jpeg format without that weird effect.

    More More! These are great! I’ve always liked the magazine cover simulations in FMG and Lingster has done his share. Are there more possibly coming up? 😉 Especially the "SuperGrrl"?
