ParticipantEidos has chosen a new woman to be the Tomb Raider, Laura Croft, in their promotional stuff. The cool thing is, instead of a model type, they've tapped a REAL athlete (a gymnast) who's actually British and she looks the part, too. Her name is Alison Carrol.

Be sure to click the small photo in the lower left of the article, it takes you to a gallery of very nice photos of her.

ParticipantI think it's Lara Croft, and yeah – she's hot. I'm glad they picked a professional gymnast who can actually perform the stunts.

ParticipantI just hope she doesn't get a big head, like Nell McAndrew did, and lose herself the job.

What do you mean by that?
Anyway, I like this model. I never liked the big lips and squarish chin from the original 3D model.

ParticipantAt last, we get a Lara who's an athlete rather than a weedy model. 8)

Nell McAndrew was an awesome Lara Croft. She was a model, but tall and very athletic and a dead ringer for the animation.
She apparently started reading too much of her own press and the adoration of the gamer geeks at computer game shows and got a big head. She started to make all sorts of demands and for more money. All just to sign "Lara Croft" autographs at E3 and appear in magazine ads.
Eidos bounced her butt and her career, outside of the occasional FHM or Maxim photos, has been non-existant.August 20, 2008 at 8:49 am #74900The Muffin man

Eidos bounced her butt and her career, outside of the occasional FHM or Maxim photos, has been non-existant.Something tells me a developer who's only avoided being swallowed up by EA or Vivendi because Time Warner has a stake in them wasn't really at all responsible for ruining her career when she got a big head.
Also, something tells me a model having a huge ego wasn't the doing of a sub-par game.
