ParticipantI would like to think that a woman who could become our vice president be off-limits from this. It just feels wrong to fetishize someone like that, no offense.

More interestingly for the rest of the world, she could become President…good luck you guys. ::)
BTW, I'm inclined to agree with you, raylight.

KeymasterConsidering how the hysterical left is reacting to her, this is down right flattering.
She was an athlete, wasn't she?
And I might add, being an independent conservative (and ardent nationalist) the choice of her by McCain does not exactly thrill me – but, on the other hand all of the "unqualified" complaints coming against her from the elites reminds me of all the whining about another politician who was considered highly unqualified for the VP position.
You know him better as Harry Truman.

ParticipantBrilliant as always, jdm, but my reaction was aaaaarrrrgggghhhh! because to me she represents a nightmare called Thatcher Mark 2.
I hear you there brother.
Obviously there will be those who disagree to this, but I'm one of those who came off pretty badly from the Thatcherite and One Nation methods of the 80's conservatives.September 9, 2008 at 7:21 pm #75823TheMKFB

I think you should embrace the fact that you can do this. Isn't that the beauty of democracy? That any ol' Joe, or in this case Jane, can elevate themselves to a position of government?
At the end of the day she's just a person like any other girl we may gawk at, except she has greater accountability for her role, not a divine right.Or did you mean that politics is just not sexy? Because I can agree with you on that. 😀

I meant neither of those things. I menat that it disturbs me that someone can get to possibly within one promotion of the most powerful position on the planet without significant experience at higher levels. Would you want me in charge of a nuclear power station near your home with only an introductiary course in nuclear fission? Well then, why should the rest of the world want someone with so little experience as President of the US? Is there really a presumption that, due to her party allegiances, she is immune from the abiltity to make mistakes?
I'll say this now; if McCain wins (and I'm sure he will, because Americans won't be able to force themselves to vote for the black guy), I hope he enjoys good health until he's 80. I really, REALLY hope so.
Oh, and BTW, I do feel that Obama is not experienced enough also, though I want him to win because, for me, he's the better option of the two that you folks have been presented with. To me, the sensible thing for the Democratic party primary voters to have done would have been to go for Hilary, then for her to pick Obama as running-mate.
That's all I'm going to say on the matter, so don't bother to ask me questions, or to ask for clarifications, because you won't get them. I've become embroiled in too many impassioned political debates here over the time I've been a member. ::) ;D
