    Ouch.

I do agree with you, though, even if I fall into the category of those who don't help the community.

I'm not big on the internet; by which, I mean I don't actively do anything, anywhere. I've recently began writing stories, but aside from the past few months, I've been a lurker for years.

I've tried my hand at artwork, of the traditional ink-and-paper variety, and trust me, it's better off left in the bin. I can barely draw a straight line on graph paper without a ruler, let alone all of the delicate curves of a female, especially one with muscles. And I'm really not exaggerating. Give me Calculus, or an Erlenmeyer flask, and I'll whip up anything you'd like. But give me a pen and tell me to draw, and you're SOL. I wish I could help that, but, young though I am, I'm still too old to really develop drawing skills well.

In terms of programming, I'm in the process of learning Java, and hopefully will be enrolled in my uni's Flash class next semester (if they offer it), so I'd be more than happy to take whatever time I can to devote to such a project as those skills can be used in. But, like I said, I'm learning it; I'm far from an expert at it, and would probably take twice as long to complete something as someone who's been using the system could, if not longer.

All that aside, I'll put forth now that if you want to get a project started, and I frankly don't care what it is, then let's go. I'll do whatever you ask, and if I can't do it currently, I'll make it my mission to learn how, as well and as soon as possible.

Just don't ask me to draw; seriously, I can't do it.

    Addendum:
And this goes to everyone else; User1 thinks, "Man, I'd love to put together a site about x, but I don't really have the time to devote to maintain it. If only I could get someone to help me with it…" I'm in. UserB moans, "Oh, I'd love to have a place outside of a forum, where people with the same interests as me could go and chat realtime about things." Lingster posted on the main Amaz0ns page about Rejaw, and made a Female Muscle Room. It's got 14 members, counting Lingster and Buddy Busen (the owners). Whatever. I'm down to do what it takes to bring the community up to the way I hear it used to be. My skills are limited, however, but I'll do all that I can. Let's go.

Before I found this Forum, I wasn't even aware of that there is so much female muscle artists. Vast number of drawings was a real suprice to me, and I feel, that I haven't yet really got into this world of muscular females. I don't consider myself to be capable of giving criticism to the artists, since I don't have any eye for this type of arts.

And when it comes to doing drawings of my own, lets just say, I've never done any computer sketches of any kind.

I've completed only basic courses of programming (C, C++, Java) and I have never applied those skills in practice, so I haven't got much experience.

So my capability of doing something of my own to support this community seems to be quite limited. So therefore, I've consentrated about posting about areas of female sports, which doesn't seem to have good coverage here. Weightlifting, Track&Field, strongwomen and other strength sport. I have thought about creating a topic, where I notify about big sport events, backrounds of the athlets, and some general history infomation.

That would be mostly linking from other sources and adding personal opinions instead of creating something own, but atleast it would be something. I did some of that in my topic, some muscular female athletes, but it didn't get much response, so I don't know are you guys interest in that kind of writings.

Problems doing that, is the lack of pictures, tv-proadcast and other material. As AlexG once said to me, this is visually driven media, so my work wouldn't satisfy that need very well.

But if anyone would like to read about those posts, let me know so I will do something about it. I'm going to keep my eye on female sports anyway, so it would not be much trouble to write and provide some material about those here.

Yes, I have to admit, I set myself for lurker mode fo a while.

I was the one recently complaining about the lack of social activity amongst the artist. I should have been more… I don't know. I shouldn't have complained about it at all. People are busy. They heve their own things to do.

Just as myself. After fourteen years of studying, my biggest exams are closing. Closing too fast. My thesis should be already finished, and in real it's not even halfway ready. I have to work on that. And damn I have to do that fast!

Months ago I was signed to do a coloring work for Amy's Conquest, ant the last five prictures are still ot complete! my 'employer' doesn't complain about it, but I'm sure he is getting impatient.

I have plans of going to university… And I'm pretty sure I will:)

But when it comes about drawing, making morphs, etc… I'm too lazy. And I'm lazy to do anything constructive. Here I am posting on a forum instead of working on my thesis.

But here are my plans for this year:

    *getting a decent notebook
*getting a tablet ( a cheap, basic one)
    *contribute

I am serious. I created my characters, collected nice looking celeb photos (unfortunately I am forbidden to post them on DA, so they'll be exlusive:))

    Maitolasi,

In my book the fact that you found pictures and tried to contribute is still a good thing in my eyes.  There is a problem however, in that most everyone else doesn't even attempt to contribute but rather they lurk and never chip in.  Now my yahoo group is lurker friendly because it's -my- yahoo group so they're obviously coming for my work.  But here at amaz0ns it's expected that we have established there is a community here.

There is no need to be afraid of enjoying muscular women here or being 'noticed' because it's safe here.  So when people have the opportunity to speak up and participate here it's disheartening and definitely de-motivates creative types from wanting to post their work here and to tackle on bigger projects.

Without readin the entire thread, with the advent of Deviantart.com I don't think you'll see as many artist here at amaz0ns.com.

Does that make this less relavant?  I don't think so.  There are plenty of discussions and other things going on that the art and/or stories aren't necessary to drive the site forward.

Well if you didn't read the entire thread, then I will summarize it, because your post only covers 1 aspect.

Amaz0ns as a community is inactive.  You can count how many members ACTIVELY participate in the forums, and I'm certain it wouldn't be more than 25 who post consistently and contribute, whether it's by discussion, posting pictures, or pointing towards links.

How many members do we have at this website?  There should be way more content than is currently present.

As a part of the problem I'd like to speak on the subject for a minute.

It's a given fact that a message board will have a large lurker population. Lucky for usAmaz0ns aren't jerks about it and you won't see someone's opinion negated due to a low post count or so I hope.

Now I have only submitted one story to the board. An incomplete story. While I do admit that I wish that it had got few more, I am damn happy about the replies I did get. But when I posted my story, I posted for me. I had an idea in my head and while I wanted to share it with you guy's, I mainly wrote it to see if I could.

What I didn't write it for was for the sake of building up a "community". So that the members can feel proud that their board is thriving.

You keep saying you want the board to do something. Well as inoffensive as I can say this…What the Hell do you want us to do ?

You mention making a female muscle game, if only someone knew how to program. You're right that's all you need to make a female muscle game. Now to make a good game centered around female muscle growth…you need artists, you need coders, level designers, you need musicians, you need writers. depending on how you want to work it you need 3d modelers. If you want to go old school you need good sprite artists. All of them with their own schedules, their own motivation levels and their own egos to deal with.

You know what? There probably is someone out there willing to bankroll an FMG centered film. Probably some eager actress trying to get her foot in the door, too. But do you think they'll do it for the sake of "community"? No way. Investors want returns and actors want compensation.

I'm not trying to sound harsh or condescending but it's just that I dislike these finger-pointing sky-is-falling type of topics.  It just seems like then the only reason is provided is because of undue pressure and not because the contributor wanted to post it.

Joey, no one is talking about doing some triple A project, but just a project in general.  You don't need all these musicians and junk, you go to places like newgrounds.com and they have tons of flash games made by one or two people.

I'm finger pointing because it wasn't always like this, the forums used to be much more active, back in the Wreck-Shop days early Amaz0ns days the forums would be teaming with people who enjoyed participating in projects.  The best was the monthly art contest where the first person to post a picture to the contest would get it featured on the forum page.

Sometimes this place can be completely dead, it's like no one has any ambitions to do anything fun.  Before people would try to take on projects and participate and comment and do all that jazz, it was for their own personal enjoyment but it just happened to include more than one person.

It doesn't have to be some -grand- opera; but it would be nice if someone would want to jump start a project.  I know videos are out of the question because of location, I'm personally based near the NYC area and though I have my own equipment I doubt there's many amaz0ns posters in that area that would want to be a part of a production.  I will finger point all I want to because I've been around long enough to see the changes that have been happening since 1996 and I know other forum posters who have been around a few years longer can agree.

There's no need for some big budget production but it would be nice if the community would actually speak up and participate more.  I know lot's of people don't bother posting on these forums anymore because the posters tend to show a lack of interest even if it's female muscle related.  So what's the point of coming if no one is going to bother saying anything?

I'm not very active here on this forum i have to admitt.
But thats because i dont know what to write about here. Im an artist, everything i could do is to post some of my art here. Well there is already a topic about my art stuff on deviantart and it cot not one single comment.
    What else could i do?
Like many other people i simply dont have the time to get involved in major projects. I even hardly find the time to draw the pics im doing.
When im working together with other artists i usually contact them via email or messenger and we're networking pretty well with that i think.
I dont think the community is falling appart. Its just getting a bit silent, not only because there are not much projects around there, but mostly because people not necessarily use the forum to coordinate their projects.
The only "projects" which would work better in a forum are all kinds of contests, like art or writing contests. Almost every other imaginable project just need a few people to find together and brainstorm a bit. But you cant force a programmer an artist and an animator together to produce something. Its a creative process after all.
Well thats my opinion about all this.

    [LONG RESPONSE]
This is kind of a difficult topic to address because there are any number of reasons why participation has dropped.  Some of it is seasonal- if you look at trends, the FM community (if it really is a community) seems to be most active during the summer months and, at least a bit, right around New Years.  Why?  because a lot of the FM community draws from students- both in high school and university/college, and that's when students have the most time and the least stress.  Right now, we're about in the middle of the Spring semester, so naturally students are focusing on their academic work and some of their extracurricular interests may be taking a bit of a backseat.

Another factor may be the economy- sad as it is, a lot of people have been feeling the pinch.  It's hard to find the motivation to work on things when you're honestly more concerned about how you're going to keep your bosses happy and satisfied, how you're going to present yourself as a desirable employee or potential employee, or how you can keep from rocking the boat and making yourself seem expendable.  When you're spending so much time and energy just keeping yourself above water and trying to blend in, it may be a little difficult to break the cycle in relation to even just one aspect of your life.

And, yes, there are other factors too numerous to mention.  Doldrums, more exciting or newer prospects in other venues, loss of interest… the list goes on.

That said, it's also not really an excuse- or at least, not entirely.  One of the things that I think has hobbled us as a forum has been the trend towards consensus.  It's odd that I, in particular, should feel that way, especially given how much I dislike strife and discord, but there has been a marked shift towards the middle both when stating opinions and when responding to the odd right- and left- wingnut postitions that have come up.  For the record: yes, I do have political views.  No, they probably are not the same as yours, regardless of what yours are.  The same is true about religion and education and science.  Feeling unsafe in expressing (possibly dissenting) views may be another reason why people have tended to shy away from this forum.

Ironically, one of the things that might make us more active would not be to shift away from the center, but for the various wingnuts to be a little more open to the reality that people on the other side of the aisle (and even most people in the middle) are unlikely to be swayed particularly by impassioned zealotry and are more likely to give attention to DISpassionate argument.  Just a thought.

Also, it's not a wise idea, I think, to belittle, discourage or downplay the contributions of people who don't have the skills or time (or time to learn the skills) necessary to contribute in a graphic medium.  Yes, obviously, it would be nice if everyone could provide visual art.  Personally, I've already made some fledgling attempts at drawing (pencil & pen & paper stuff, very little amazonian at all, and really nothing noteworthy), and I can say from experience that it takes work and commitment.  That said, it takes at least as much time and effort and commitment to turn out a quality story (although the majority of FM consumers are unlikely to take the time to actually read through it,) and it's extremely rare to see more that a couple of comments of any sort on any given author's work lately, let alone constructive criticism.

Yes.  It would be nice if people could and would take the time to learn skills that could and would then be put to effective use within the Amaz0ns community.  At the same time, I think it's also worth mentioning and praising people who regularly contribute- even if it isn't through picture, video or even story.
