At $4.99 Hulk #600 was too pricey to pick up this week. But I did skim through it….
SPOILERS
Jen contacts reporter Ben Ulrich who works for the Frontline newspaper. It's done like "All The Presidents Men" with Jen hiding in the shadows of an underground parking garage. She wants Ulrich to infiltrate AIM which has captured Rick Jones (now the Hulk like A-Bomb) and are conducting experiments. Red Hulk is there too and above all Jen wants to find out who Rulk is. Along for the ride is Doc Samson (W/short hair) and Peter Parker who is brought along as photographer.
Still awake? Sooooooo……..
Everything turns into a Big Fight(tm) With Doc Samson suddenly turning into a bigger meaner "Bad Doc" Samson as he and Jen pummel each other senseless. Meanwhile Red Hulk and Green (Real) Hulk have it out while MODOK looks on like the useless tool he is. Red Hulk drains Hulk of all his gamma energy declaring that Bruce Banner can never be the Hulk again. All the fighting has set off a chain reaction that will blow everything to bits. A-Bomb grabs Banner while Spidey grabs Ulrich and they escape. Meanwhile Red Hulk stands over the senseless bodies of Jen and Samson saying "You two aren't going anywhere"……
BOOOOOOOM!
Later, Ulrich is approached by Rulk in the same underground garage and is warned off the story. Ulrich complies. No word on Jen.
Future solicitations have "She Hulk" back up in the issues of Hulk …. but with Lyra(sp?) taking center stage. The story is entitled "In Search of She Hulk".
Normally this wouldn't worry me… "If there's no body there's no death" Death by 'splosions are never permanent. Heck death isn't permanent in comics. No one could have been deader than Steve Rogers… they even showed his rotting corpse … but he's coming back. There's also a trend during "Dark Reign" to replace some longstanding heroes like Ms. Marvel, Dr.Strange, even Wolverine. What worries me is that Jeph Loeb is writing this. The man has become an infuriating hack in recent years, and his recent work on Ultimatum suggests that he isn't squeamish about giving characters irrelevant deaths. She Hulk is also on the B-List which often means "redshirting" a character for "shock" value. Marvel really seems to want to push Thulkie these days. If I drop Hulk, it'll be the last Marvel title I'm currently buying.
I hope I'm wrong, just sayin' you might want to get those petitions ready….. :-

(That was meant as a rhetorical statement)
I can only say, you can always trust in Marvel to F***it up. >:(
Nuff said. 8)

Let's face it, Marvel probably doesn't like the fact that Jen Walters is highly sexualized by many in her fandom and people salivate whenever she transforms. This is to remove that element because Lyra doesn't transform. As far as Marvel's concerned they'll be getting rid of the perverts and then have a chance to build a new audience around Lyra.

Its so sad what Marvel has done to the She-Hulk since her last run in Savage. I am a BIG fan of her Savage era, and I'm sure there are others here too who like seeing Jen grow into a muscular giantess, but, having her transform has nothing to do with fans sexualizing over her. Marvel created that perception of her in Sensational, where she was jump-roping naked in one of the issues. It just baffles me that they would kill her off because they are afraid of how fans seeing Jen SH, when they were trying to bank off that her sexuality. This is why I stopped buying SH comics years ago. (I hated the fact her ability to change was taken away) So, this is why fans out there choose to creat her transforming like the Hulk. (I am starting a Savage SH comic soon using Poser)So, Marvel can do what they want, make Lyja the next SH. (anorexic and all) BUT, She-Hulk is a strong, muscular woman and if Marvel wants to call those who enjoy how she is supposed to be (pervs) well, so be it. I like my SH strong, muscular and powerful, and that's how I'm going to protray her, cased closed.

Now, I have seen or read it all, but man that's a BIG biceps
July 25, 2009 at 6:56 am #85491DavidParticipantI'm not terribly worried about the Red She-Hulk. It can't be any worse than the green daughter of Thundra. Knock on wood. And I don't think Jennifer is dead.
BTW Jennifer can again change back and forth.
July 25, 2009 at 11:51 am #85492Prophet TenebraeParticipantWait… are they pretending ANYONE really cares who Rulk is? Didn't they drop that entire aspect when it became apparent it was none of the above and hence was going to be an ass pull. You know, if you want to know how to do a "who is X?" mystery, Loeb – go and read PAD's run on Supergirl. He had a list of suspects that kept the eponymous guessing and the reader and it turned out to actually be ONE of those people and it was a pretty cool twist – before the whole Earth Angel thing bogged that book down.
Anyway, I think Loeb's son died recently? I think that's a pretty good reason for your writing to go down the tubes but then – Marvel will let Kevin Smith retcon Black Cat into a rape victim for shits and giggles, so far be it for me to suggest they give the man a leave of absence to actually deal with the issues that have made him become the new Chuck Austin.
Where was I? Ah, yes – She-Rulk… well, as someone was calling Lyra that… that's probably going to piss all over their parade.
Me? So long as it's not Jen and Jen isn't banished for a while to respawn, I'm happy to have another girl run around. Red haired or red skinned. So long as She-Hulk keeps her profile up… and hey! Who knows, it might be someone to add to her rogue's gallery that isn't Titania!
