I just fail to understand what made her to change from very likely sucsesfull powerlifting career to – well, how to put this, – one of average figure competitors. At least I couldn't find that she would have won any major competitions.

Health issues, not being in the right sport, self image as 180-pounder or whatever. Also powerlifting tends to be narrow group sport where every day normal guy doesn't get into it.

But once again I'm repeating myself with this futile jargon.

Although she set out to be a figure competitor when she began lifting a few years ago, Ali took a detour into power lifting and had a tremendous impact on the sport. By age 19 she had set eleven teenage world power lifting records in three weight classes and had recorded a 551 pound squat, a 275 pound bench press and a 518 pound deadlift in competition.
