Lingster
KeymasterI’ve added a chat menu item that’s visible to logged-in users. It’s a simple gateway to an IRC channel called #amaz0ns on QuakeNet. If it becomes popular I might purchase a license to a proprietary chat system for the site.

ParticipantI’m clicking on chat and I get a not available site message. Is it available to a regular member?

I clicked and a pre-chat page came up:
To connect to QuakeNet IRC and join channel #amaz0ns click ‘Connect’.
I clicked on it, and after a moment the IRC chat room was up.
Are you using using Firefox or some other non-IE browser?
Reason I ask, earlier today someone asked me for help, he was having probs w/ right clicking and saving pictures from the Groups with his non-IE browser.

It’s possible the site that hosts the gateway was temporarily down.

So you’re saying Lingster has turned this site into a tool for Microsoft to promote their horrible IE series of internet browsers and to keep those of us who use something different from having full site functionality? I knew this was a conspiracy……I bet they paid him off in skittles too…… :silly:

TC2ParticipantThis chat thing most certainly does not work in mozilla.

KeymasterI tested it in Camino & Safari on the Mac, Chrome and IE on Windows. Worked for all of them.
I’m probably going to shut it down and try the proprietary non-IRC app instead.

Participant90% of the users use Mozilla…
What’s the use of a function that only a fraction of us could use?
