KeymasterBefore the Internet made FBBing content readily accessible, I can remember when men were real men, and women were real women, and you had to go to the local newsstand, convenience store, pharmacy, grocery, etc and search for the physique magazines.
Having found FBBing material (the prize of prizes being an issue of WPW), you had to have the fortitude to take it in hand to the checkout . . . and endure the public exposure of your interest in femuscular women.

ParticipantTo be honest, I still pick up magazines of Oxygen if Im ever able to. :/ Its depressing that its basically all fitness / figure / bikini, but Flex and MD barely do shit about FBB’s anymore. So its not worth it to spend on those.
And those are the ones that usually aim at my store.

ParticipantHa ha, damn that’s like oggling women in the Sears catalog! It’s true though, whenever I’m at the store I check the magazine section and they only have the freaking dudes on covers. It’s so depressing…

ParticipantI remember those days. I used to be a little embarrassed about it in my youth. Not anymore, as people around me know of my fondness of muscular women. But I went in with a plan. Whenever somebody questioned me I used to say that I was supposed to get examples of disproportionate physiques for art class.
I would say you know the hourglass figure, blah blah blah. And they would be like oh yeah, these women don’t have that, this is a good example, lol.
my gf is really into fitness so I now get to go with b&n or borders etc and go through mags with her. But before the prevalence of content on the internet, WPW saved me.

About as thick as a phone book and almost all the content is advertsing by the supplement companies. Compare an issue of either, from say 1990, and it’s sad to see what they’ve become.

You know, I’ve heard that all lot from people over the years. The hardest part was running the gauntlet of the check out person, sometimes nothing happened, others you’d get the incredulous responce – You like that?
As if that wasn’t obvious, why else am I spending money on it in your store?
But I went in with a plan. Whenever somebody questioned me I used to say that I was supposed to get examples of disproportionate physiques for art class.
I think everyone one had their own “plan” – it was a requirment. It was easier w/ mags like Ironman, FLEX, and MD – but there was that certain something about WPW or Female Bodybuilding and Fitness that inviably drew attention. My solution was after the first couple of issues I just put ’em on subscription and took the rest out of the equation.

ParticipantI used to buy mine at the Main Street News, up in Evanston IL. With all the kinky porn and fetish magazines they sold out of the limited access aisle, in the back of the shop, no one even blinked at some guy buying FBB mags.

ParticipantI was lucky in that I could pick mine up in a bicycle shop that sold gym equipment when I didn’t have a subscription and later newstands in NYC where they sold eeeeevvvvveeeerrrrrything.

ParticipantMan, I’ve never really think back to life before the internet. It’s so easy now to see not just photos, but video, heck HD videos, of all the top FBB’s, but in my high school days I used to get Flex and M&F etc. from the local grocery store. I had no idea where to get a WPW, but man that would have been great. Of course if you guys remember, there were actually bodybuilding shows on television. I think I saw a Miss Olympia on ESPN back in the day.

ParticipantYeah, I was lucky enough to have WPW at my local grocery store. I always wondered how they came to the decision of ordering it on a monthly basis. Other magazines of a fitness nature had some workouts or tips but WPW was full of pictures and information about the ladies. I was not complaining at all, just curious.
I also remember back in the day waking up at ungodly hours to catch the female bodybuilding coverage as it would show at weird times. Also, waking up early in the morning to watch Kiana Tom and her friends workout on tv, wishing to live on that beach. B)
