ParticipantI joined the site for a month’s membership back when 8 foot Annie came out and will no doubt do the same when the sequel is released.
I liked 8 foot Annie, and some of your shots were quite clever.
There was one small “tell” for me, if you look at the sample screenshot, his shadow is falling on the couch, while Annie doesn’t have a shadow there. That tells my eye that he’s closer to the couch than she is and breaks the spell of the forced perspective a bit, at least for me. Probably not a problem for 90% of the population. Those 3D pictures you stare at with unfocused eyes don’t work for me either.
Also, I think you underestimated 8-Foot-Annie’s weight.
I’ll get really nerdy here for a second…
If Annie is 166 pounds at 5’5″ (from her website)
linear scaling factor of going from 5’5″ to 8 feet is 96/65
since she scaled up in all 3 dimensions evenly, the scaling for volume and mass is (96/65)*(96/65)*(96/65)
so 8 foot tall weight should be roughly: 166 * 1.47 * 1.47 * 1.47 = 527 pounds
if she was at contest weight of 158, then 8 foot weight would be 502 pounds
Yes, that would make 8-foot-Annie heavier than the world’s tallest man, but most tall people are narrow for their height, and they don’t bodybuild and put on dense muscle. ๐maybe she lowballed her weight because she thought the general audience wouldn’t believe the real numbers? ๐
My geeky diversions aside, I liked 8 foot Annie, was a first time paying customer to the website because of it, and look forward to the sequel.
I can think of lots of things you could do with the character of 8-Foot-Annie. She could talk about small other people seem compared to her, discuss the huge amount of protein she has to eat, mention how everything has to be custom-made for her, and so on.
Best of luck with the next video!

Participanthello, Thank you for the detailed note and I am glad you liked the video. Yes a lot of these things I am aware of but I don’t know how much time I should spend on the little tweaks as I dont know if it would be appreciated. But I am happy to read that the true fans notice all these little details.
The shots are not forced perspective, but rather a separate element. Annie was shot on a green screen and composited into the shot. I thought my eyeline was a tad off in some of them, but this first video was more of a ‘proof of concept’ to see if I could do it. Yes, I agree a shadow on the couch would ‘sell’ it a bit more.
The sequel is pretty much done, but I am going back to re-do some of the major effects shots as I think they can be tweaked a little better. (My travel to the contests last weekend has slowed me down a bit)
As far as the weights go, that all sounds great to me. I have seen some other discussions of this same topic. I kinda wrote the script pretty quickly and only did some quick math.. so I apologize if it doesn’t seem realistic.

ParticipantThe preview pics for the next 8 foot Annie look great!
Quite eager to see how it turns out.
Liking the fact that you’ve got some strength feats planned (breaking that tree). That’s a good demonstration, as an 8 foot tall version of Annie is going to be crazy strong.
And also like seeing the use of good scale establishers, like having her near the vehicle.

ParticipantI have just released the sequel and you can purchase both part 1 and 2 as part of the ‘8 foot Annie Combo Pack” for $8:
DESCRIPTION for PART 2: The sequel features a simple interview with 8 foot Annie. But things go bad fast when James (the interviewer) asks her too many dumb questions including a strength challenge. This sends 8 foot Annie into a rage, smashing a tree with her fist and flipping a SUV through the air!

To compliment something that might get overlooked, pretty good acting there, James. You sold the “I’m freaking out and want no more part of this” reaction.
Next time, better bring some questions that Annie approves of! ๐
