This new Quadra Blu will be just as short lived as the original.

I hope that your’e wrong. But unfortunately that may be the case :/
Anyway, it will be cool to see any of Quadra. I love the way he draws her: huge back, tiny waist, huge thighs.

Does the phrase “self-fulfilling prophecy” mean anything to you?

That may depend… If he’s trying to sell a comic book to the general public, then yeah, Quadra-Blu will have the same issues facing She-Hulk, Wonder Woman etc. in a male dominated market, that prefers “traditional” looking women. Is this supposed to be a webcomic?…. In which case a smaller but loyal “cult” audience may form. Personally I hope he takes the approach of DCM …. produce stories largely for fun and not expectations of financial support (I’m not suggesting Lyman not try to make money here… but expectations should be kept low in either case…. Dave does Tetsuko more for fun than money)

December 17, 2010 at 8:42 am #97817khuddleParticipantBTX makes good a point. If Lyman targets the hardcore fbb-fan audience, he could make the thing fly. Just charge higher prices for the product. I know personally I would be willing to pay a fair amount of money for top notch female bodybuilding artwork (I already subscribe to sites like LH-ART, AQ and Fem-Power Extreme), and I suspect a lot of fans here and elsewhere would too. (But it REALLY has to be top notch stuff — she has to be huge, muscle bound and sexy, the art has to be really high quality, and also I would look for her to be an ACTIVE heroine (like DCM’s Tesuko or Satin Steele) rather than the passive character she was in the Max Rep series (ie. nothing more than Max’s idolizing girlfriend).
December 20, 2010 at 7:20 pm #97896GrandmasterParticipantI’m a fan of Lyman Dally’s artwork from the Muscular Development days, too—not just the comic strip, but the spot illustrations.
I hope he follows his own passions with this and doesn’t pander to anyone (“FBB fan”, fetishist, Betty Weider). That’s the only way anything one does can be a success.
I want to see new Quadra Blu (and/or Max Rep!) stories and art, but I hope this “love/adventure” revival doesn’t take the characters and story lines into fetish. The draw of Max Rep: Astrotitan of the Year 2020 for me was that it was a superbly drawn soft science fiction story/space opera set in a future world of competitive bodybuilding, and not a strip about muscles making someone horny. (It couldn’t have been one in its venue, anyway.)
I look forward to someone who can draw doing a clean adventure series starring a muscular woman character! I hope it can be Dally—his is a singular style.

I’m really looking forward to more of Lyman Dally’s art.

I agree. One of best things about the original Astrotitan series was that he could play off on the differing personalities of Max and Quadra within any story situations that he placed them into. It’s an endearing quality that I’m going to greatly miss if this turns out to be a Quadra only strip. B)

See more of the new sketches here.Lyman Dally has been busy concepting, writing and drawing the new Quadra-Blu series. He recently sent me pages from his sketchbook and a few words about what fans can expect:
“Basically we’ll be joining Quadra-Blu in her life BEFORE she meets Max Rep (as pertaining to the old published series) starting with her leaving her home planet, which is a water planet (hence her blue hair). We’ll also see her in her mesomorphic “untrained” state in the very early episode(s). She builds-up bigger when she gets to Earth. I’m still keeping the new title of the series a secret until I establish the working fundamentals of launching, for real, this series on the internet. Bringing Quadra-blu back to life has been like starting-up a rusty old machine, but I hope female-muscle fans (and those others whom might come on-board) will like what the machine churns out: surreal stories (not fetishistic) that involve femininity, muscle, and a sense of adventure.” – Lyman Dally
Quadra-Blu is an acknowledged property of Lyman Dally. Artwork posted with his permission.
