I don’t have much more to add to the conversation except for:

That Spider-woman cover was awful, plain and simple. I don’t mind the Inferno one but the Spider-woman one was not just terrible for its depiction but in execution.

The colors are all washed out, the lips look like worms, the pose doesn’t even look physically possible on the rooftop, her butt’s hanging out for no reason. Ugh, just an UGLY cover. Blatant images that are intended to be sexy just end up feeling immature and not sexy.

    For instance, which is sexier?

A pumped up muscular woman in a boob top where the under flesh of her tits are hanging out but you can’t see her nipples.
Or just plain tits out for no reason.

I know it’s subjective but in my opinion, the boob top is sexier because it will leave more to the imagination.

I’m totally with you TC2, Hinting is always better than showing.

    OK.

Looking at it now, it doesn’t make any sense. The way she’s climbed over the edge and looked up isn’t convincing. Even the Exorcist can’t do that.

The subject this interesting. What he meant was not about art but the sexual context of it.
    But I have some questions.
Do you think such changes need to be extended to games? In games like Bayonetta, Street fighter, Dead or Alive and others?

    Yes.

I mean Dead or Alive is just ridiculous, and the new Laura character in Street Fighter was probably not the best move. At the same time, Japanese developed games so I’m not going to try and “force my own culture” or whatever on them. They have their own feminist movement starting but the country is still very conservative.

Although Bayonetta is a slightly weird one as while she is quite sexualised, at least in the first one, all the really strongly feminist women I know that have played it really love it because she’s such a strong and awesome character. Whether or not they just enjoy it and understand the problems in her appearance I’ve never been quite sure.

Bayonetta uses her feminine sexuality to make her powerful. There’s at least a bit more depth to the character than tits and glasses.

I have a new question, but did not answer the above can answer them as well.
Do you think that now would create characters like the type Power girl, Lady Dath or Red Monika. Should be placed in a sub-culture will partly hidden from everyone? Or simply purged and extinct?

Sub-culture? Purged and extinct? A little dramatic.

You seem to be afraid that sexy females all over are going to be erased by some kind of feminist movement. That’s wrong.

I know plenty of female artists who love to draw superheroines with big tits and skimpy outfits. These costumes are always going to get revamped and rebooted and changed as the years go by. That doesn’t mean that a skimpy vampirella will be no more. It just means that some comics will try to cater to a young, impressionable female crowd without encouraging them to stick their fingers down their throats.

The rest of the comics will probably remain untouched or there will be a period when the women are all covered up and then it’ll cycle back to them being half naked.

Point is, there is no risk of losing your half naked sexy babes. DC and Marvel are constantly reinventing themselves and reinventing characters to keep everything fresh. One day Power girl will be all covered up, some creator will come along and be like “I like her with the boob window, let me bring it back” and then she’s back to her old self.

So truly, I think this is making a big deal out of nothing.

Yes, I was really dramatic in my question. I wanted to create a hypothetical situation. Of course there are cycles of customs. Suddenly something becomes fashionable, then it is not.
We see for example, like to muscular women. How many times have you seen muscular women with great emphasis in the media?
There is no a movie, animation or television series that featured a character with physical sort of our liking.
You must agree that many people do not like muscular women.
If we have to stay looking excerpts from a movie or cartoon to appear in a muscular woman to say that we belong there is a follow-up to part.
We are not few of course, but it will be long before we see a movie only the She-Hulk for example.

Partly or even fully clothed, with contour fitting outfit and/or a suggestive **hint hint** rather than in your face nudity, is IMHO better since, as you say, such leave more for the imagination. It’s probably why the growth TF w/ the clothing ripping apart has such a wide appeal w/ the readers of stories (or with a visual sequence in the case of a static artwork or vid-clip) – cuz it’s a form of strip teasing.

Definitely a form of strip teasing. With each split seam, burst shoe, and breast spillage, a little more of the sculpted physique gets revealed.
