    2000 bucks? come on…

    Sony HDRCX106 – an awesome camera, with Carl Zeiss (!) optics, max video resolution: 2304 x 1728 (beyond full HD!)

    560 bucks…

    The only HDRCX I found was off a European website.  From the pictures I saw that is definitely not a camera a professional would be using.  I doubt claims that it is as awesome as you say it is.

    Btw, at muscleangels, they need to get a decent HD camera, because this sucks. They're not too expensive…

    No video camera is going to output to an editing program at more than 1080. That image listing is for shooting stills. Canon's 7D DSLR shoots 18megapixel images but it still only shoots 1080p video. This is obviously a capture from the video and it is extremely hard to get sharp captures in low light heavy action scenes. Then depending on the format you have to deal with deinterlacing. You could set up lights but then you get in the way of the other members in the gym and you cast shadows as you move for different angles. If you have an on camera light it tends to flatten out the subject, something you don't like to do, and then the shadows move when you do which can be distracting.

    yes, that screencap is fuzzy looking but the entire video footage is very clear. nobody pushed me away, i just make a habit of lurking and not participating but when it was obvious to me that someone was critiquing something that i produced and they were…well…wrong, i just felt the need to correct it. i shoot with a decent HD camera and Andy encodes the video quite high for the site.  so all in all our video on muscleangels are extremely clear 🙂
