I've been doing some web browsing today and came across the Amazons International forum from the early days of the Internet.  It's hosted on the Diana the Valkyrie site, and, although I've only read the first few issues so far, I thought the following summed-up my feelings pretty well (it does seem incredible to me that this was appearing when I was only 10-11 yers of age):

What is so attractive or exciting about female fighting?

It stresses the fact that females are _physical_ beings
(as opposed to 'ethereal' or otherworldly) — they are real and
alive, full of blood, sweat, sounds, passions, smells and tastes.
This is very refreshing in a culture that worships an anemic,
fragile, aseptic, passive and sterile conception of women.
Who wants to feel like a brute dealing with fragile and dead
        porcelain?

Yes, indeed trust in Al to keep ahead of the curve . . . and don't get me started about #Femalemuscle on IRC Superchat.

Thanks for the reply Alex – I'd be very interested to hear your opinion on the quote as well. 🙂

If, as the underlying meaning of "attractive or exciting" in referance to female fighting, it's not my cup of coffee.  I don't find it, personally, to be a sexual turn-on, so I'd not be the one to ask.

Actually, the fighting bit was only in there because I slipped-up with putting the quote in – it doesn't do anything for me either.  I was referring to the second paragraph, really.  Sorry for the confusion. :-[
