Dood, you don't realize how good makes me feel to know someone is interested!

The next chapter is in the chute.  Right now, however, I've been spending lots of time with my family, so that has taken mucho time.  That and Grand Turismo 4.  🙂

The next chapter we'll get to see more of what Tori can do! 😉

:)Thanks, for the reply. I'm glad all is well with you. By the way are you in the the military. From your email address, it looks like you are. If that is the case, Thanks for Your Service. Enjoy your time with the family.

    I am and thank you.

Being in the military helps make this story a lot easier to write.  I know the in's and out's of how things work so I can make it true-to-life as possible.  I'm also an Exercise Physiologist, which helps with the fantasy science.

Not as much as I would have liked to get done, but school and work owns me.  More to come, of course…

Tori was still panting with embarassment as she ascended into the open air over El Paso, TX.  The reason for her panting switched quickly to panic as she realized she was still rising.

"Oh, God.  What now?"  She looked down as her legs slowly tumbled over her.  The city edge of the city passed beneath her, as did the next two miles of military installation.  Once her legs were under her again, her arms attempting some sort of purchase with the wind around her, the rising sensation became falling.  Her feeling of panic, however, continued to soar.  She felt helpless, and with no control over her forward motion, that was essentially the truth.  She knew she could estimate her landing, though.

"No!  The mountain!  I'm going die!"

The impact collapsed a sizable bite of the moutain's face as if God's hand scooped part of the earth away.  Seconds after the sizable impact, loose boulders continued to slid over Tori adding to the pile on top of her.  She felt the pressure of several tons, but it was nothing more than a feeling.  Shocked she was still alive, she took stock of herself.

"Ouch."  She thought for a moment.  "Wait.  Isn’t that supposed to hurt?  Not even a little.  What the hell is going on?"

Without thinking she pushed the burden of rocks and boulders off to her side.  She hadn’t noticed its weight.  She looked down at her massive body, which had been completely unharmed save for the dust she was now covered in from top to bottom.

"I'm enormous!"  She looked over her skin for bruises, cuts, anything.  "I should be dead.  This is impossible."

Over her shoulder she could see the crater her body had pounded into the rock.  She looked up remembering how far her standing jump carried her.

"That was at least 7 miles.” She guessed.  “It's like my dreams.  Only better.  It’s real!"

She placed her hand on a nearby boulder.  A part of her was telling her that she would wake up any moment.  Another part was telling that it was for real this time.  She started to apply slow pressure.  Cracks traveled along the surface of the rock.  Tori smiled.  Her ears filled with groaning, popping noises as the boulder cracked like thin ice.  She twitched her arm.  The boulder crumbled under her hand.

"Yeah!"  Tori pumped her fist.  Her voice shook any loose rocks further into the crater.  She covered her mouth in surprise giggling though her fingers.  Tori tore into the mountainside like a girl opening a Christmas present.  Rock of varying size and were tossed, crushed, and juggled with the woman’s powerful body.  She found quickly that she was just as durable as she was strong, if not moreso.

She stood, considering, tossing a small house of a rock from one to the other hand.  She thumbed it casually sending floating over the ridge.  Her smiled widened as she watched it clear several miles over the horizon.

“I wonder how it happened.  It must have been those awful headaches I was having.  Something must have released when…oh my God…Jenny!”

Her left foot planted into the ground cracking the sandstone floor like glass.  A few more steps accelerated her forward stupidly fast.  Such a sudden acceleration surprised her to a stop.  Her body snapped back into form and made her tingle at the edge of her skin.  She looked over her shoulder.  1 mile away she could see the carved out surface of the mountain.

“Now that’s fast.”  She looked back toward base several miles away and grinned.  “Cool.”

“So she’s okay?”  Tori asked with relief.

Jenny gave Tori the full report.  She had seen Tori’s niece running out of the store.  They had finally calmed her down and were bringing her in when something exploded out of the roof.

“I’ve been calling every hospital in the city looking for you!  We were so worried.”  Jenny slowed herself and took a deep breath.  “So then you’re okay?”

Tori smiled at her impossibly large arm.  “More than fine.  Listen.  Can you watch her for me tonight?  I need to sort some things out for myself.”

“Um…sure.  Is everything okay, Ms. Grant?”

“If you only knew.  We’ll arrange pick-up tomorrow, okay? Thank you so much.”

    “Anything for you, Ms. Grant.”
