Unfortunately, the job i am doing on comics can be find only in France or Quebec…
C'est vraiment un domage…
I've been really impressed with the comics I've read from France (or Bandes dessines?). The French really seem to take their graphic novels seriously and they are seen as a much higher art form over there than in the US or UK. (Yes, not just Moebius either).
I bought a couple of things by the Humanoides Associes, David B and Julie Doucet when I was over there last, all of which I really enjoyed. There always seems to be a lot going on over in France in the comic world that just never makes it out to the US or UK, which is a real shame. (Although I have to say that some French graphic novels are PRETTY F*CKING WEIRD, even by my standards).
Anyway, more power to you, Stef – you're a great artist and I'm really glad that you're doing great things in the world of comics!

Well, i think French see the way of making a comic from a different point of view than Japanese or Americans people. But we like to read some US, UK or Asian comics too.
French editors may think French Comics (bande dessinées) are too different of their comics to interest American readers. And also, the size of the books are not usual for USA i think.
Well, you know, now, i'm working mainly as redactor for military history magazines and i work very few in comic. i tried, few years ago, but it was a great failure…i worked during 3 years on comics but nothing was published…
So, now, i have a main job and i draw comics sometimes only by pleasure during my spare time.PS: Hum, apologize me for my bad english 😉
December 8, 2006 at 4:32 am #43634JackParticipantSorry to hear you've had a hard time in the comics world. You're a very talented artist and I wish you the best of luck in the future with it.
And by the way your English is MUCH better than my French, so no need to apologise!
A bien tot!

Always enjoyed your style from what you've posted around the net to the works on Freya. Very well proportioned and close to reality but still with enough power to them to be fantasy.
Thanks for sharing your fine linework and coloring with us.
