Is there anything about Dark Knight that says it's good for kids?

Definitely NOT for kids is what I've read. It has a PG-13 rating and is supposed to be very dark. Completely forget Nicholson's Joker, Heath Ledger's is more like the Joker of the more recent comics and graphic novels. Very edgy, violent, totally amoral.
July 11, 2008 at 7:55 am #72906The Muffin manParticipantWhat do you mean? Seems to me it was his idea. And he has a Producer credit on the movie. So it seems he was heavily involved.
Producer Credit isn't really the same as a writing credit.
Besides, Clone Wars didn't suck. How could he have had a hand in it?July 11, 2008 at 7:56 am #72907The Muffin manParticipantIron Man was a good movie, I'll give you that. But I'm guessing that "The Dark Knight" will be better.
Any movie that draws comparisons to "The Godfather Part 2" and "Heat" (at least from what I've heard from some early reviews) has to be one of the best movies of the year, not just the summer movie season.
I like to call this "Pity comparisons".
If Robert Downey Jr. died after filming Iron Man, it'd be "right up there with Citizen Kane" I can guarantee you.
July 11, 2008 at 7:12 pm #72908HolidayParticipantDon't forget Oliver Reed's performance in "Gladiator".
Godfather 2 and Heat aren't bad comparisons, but it doesn't convince me that it's the Batman that I enjoy most. I'm surprised how the audience responds more to the superhero who has no powers or truly high tech equipment.

a screening tommorow…July 18, 2008 at 12:14 pm #72910khuddleParticipantFirst the critics, now the fans are going APESH**T over this movie. I'm really considering heading out to Jax FL to catch it on IMAX
July 19, 2008 at 5:10 am #72911khuddleParticipantWell, I saw it this afternoon, and let me say I'm glad I didnt drive to Jax to see it on Imax 🙁
My opinions on the movie (and JUST THAT — one man's opinions): It is PRETTY GOOD. To call it a classic or masterpiece as some critics and fans have is laughable. And it is NOT as good as Batman Begins. The strengths of the movie are an outstanding score, lush sets and cinematography, strong performances by Christian Bale and Gary Oldham, and some fantastic action sequences. Heath Ledger is definelty VERY creepy as the Joker.
In sum, I felt as if I got my money's worth for the movie, but I will not see it again nor will I buy it on DVD.
July 19, 2008 at 9:13 am #72912HolidayParticipantI wasn't completely impressed with Batman Begins. Unlike the zombies I didn't think the movie was groundbreaking for a superhero film. But I enjoyed it anyway.
Since I'm recovering from a week long illness and I work 6 days a week, you can bet I'm going to IMAX with my friends. I want a little fun on the big BIG screen! :-*
Now will this be better than meeting the Sacramento Dance Team and getting my picture taken with them? Let's wait and see.
July 20, 2008 at 12:18 am #72913BlackKusanagiParticipantSaw it.
My opinion, is if you dont see it, youre missing out on an experience of incredible propotions.
