Wow.  I normally only lurk on these forums, I've thought up some pretty good fanfics, but never really wrote them…  I'm not really sure which to vote for! 

I'd vote on all of these if I could… ((in no particular order))

– Evangalion
– Street Fighter
– Pirates
– Star Wars ((both listed))
– DBZ
– Princess Mononoke.

I'm kind of surprised that there's no comic book heroines up there, also, I think it'd be pretty awesome to have Tifa from FF7, or Samus from Metroid.

Regardless, all that aside, I'd say you should let us make a story on what gets enough votes ((your second option))

How about the contest simply be to write a fan-fic on any of the above themes? Surely it would be easier for a writer to write a story based on a subject that they know and like rather rather than on one which they may not like or even know about?

Well, I certainly wouldn't be averse to seeing fanfics about any-or all-of the above topics, but the whole point of the contest was, I thought, to let authors work over a similar theme and see how they (the different authors) all interpreted it.  Making if free choice kind of defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

At the moment it looks like Pirates and Street fighter are the most wanted themes for the constest.

For the contest itself  i would suggest one of the following options:

1st: everyone who wants to join writes a shortory about Streetfighter, the winner of the poll
or
2nd: everyone who wants to join writes a shortstory about a theme with at least 5 votes (that would be Neon Genesis Evangelion, Streetfighter, Pirates, Firefly/Serinity, DBZ or Starwars IV-VI)

What do you think is better?
I wanted to do the first one at first to have the stories compareable, but it would be to bad not to read about the other ideas, too.
So i would prefer the second one at the moment. So we got 6 Themes to choose.

Option 2 sounds good to me. Not everyone would be familiar with a particular series, so giving more choices would increase the number of people who enter, plus I'm not sure I like the idea of every story in a contest being centered on the same character(s)

I agree.  I like Option 2 best…

Hmm.  This is… interesting… I was the only person to vote for Matilda from Leon the Professional, but somehow she got transformed into something wholly other that I've never even heard of.

I'm guessing the reason is because Matilda was still significantly underage at the end of the movie (I'd been planning to advance the story significantly into the future and write something similar to an underworld version of the Cold Fury stories I've been writing, but focusing more on Matilda being really, really big and strong as opposed to just pure death in blue jeans) but I don't know.  Anyway, if we're going with option 2, maybe I'll do a Kayleigh/Zoe story for Firefly, instead.  I'll have to give it some thought.

I would certainly like to see some of these stories. How anyone could make a FMG story for House or NCIS is beyond me.

Hey folks. Yeah i've been absent for quite awhile, but i'm happy people cared about my little fanfic contest idea.
I really enjoyed reading the firefly story and hope to see more great short fanfics coming soon ^_^
Looks like this poll at least inspired some people.
Although i wanted to write a house story myself i have not managed to write it yet.
But i might add a little story myself later.
And for the Mathilda-story… i really would like to see such one, too.
