I’m having problems with Brawna.org – according to the stats from the hosting provider, the site is eating a huge amount of server capacity. I’ve shut off the fancy caching module I was using and have gone back to the standard caching mode, but it’s now costing me about $120/month to host it. If that doesn’t drop, I’ll have to shut it down or restrict access in some way.
Just keeping you all in the loop.

It is absolutely because of lesbians

Almost as if the genre of strength transferal is wrecking its horrible reality unto ones network traffic.
It’s especially a kick in the head considering that you started Barwna as a way to avoid losing all the sorts of written content that often disappeared forever or was thrown into the difficult to navigate archives of DTV.
Thank you for the money and time spent so far, Lingster.
Perhaps there’s some way to avoid losing the dream. I know this may sound awful but maybe start anew with stories having to be in arse ugly .txt format? I know next to nothing about the actual technical issues at play but it seems like it could mean less overhead than the bells and whistles otherwise.

Lingster, since this is potentially a tech oriented question, would you please provide more specific details for those of us who may have the background to offer constructive feedback?
“Server capacity” as in storage, bandwidth, or resources like processor/ram?
What appears to be the culprit? Can you narrow it down to select problems or does it seem to be a hodge podge?

maybe stories should be presented in simple txt format, ala the Valkyrie Library.
December 10, 2010 at 2:59 am #97666LingsterKeymasterThe problem is processing cycles, and I think the fancy caching is responsible.
I am exploring adding the EPUB format, in the hope that people would save them to their Kindles, Nooks, etc, and not reload them every time they um, you know.
