Unfortunately WW is the highth of female strength and beauty in comics (at laest in the DC univurse that is, although PG is my favorite) and she is the only strong female character of her area that hasn't faded away. The actress that plays the part will have to be "discovered" because there just aren't any out there that can play the part at the moment. 5'8" to 6'2" with a strong physique and long dark hair with an over abundence charisma. Unfortunately Josh Weadon has a record of choosing five foot tall 90Lbs waifs to star as the unstoppable superstrong heroine. Not that I didn't like Buffy or Firefly but I think Josh is gonna have to battle his instictual need to pick another pixie for the part instead of an amazon.

With the difference being that the "pixies" were characters he freely created, and he most likely doesn't have final say on casting a property of this magnitude–I don't think it'll be such a great test of his will. It's not like he's wary of amazons or something. He's made considerable use of Gina Torres (as Jasmine and Zoe).

I seem to remember a similar thread a few years on the old Wreck Shop boards (before Whedon became attached to the project); I suggested Charisma Carpenter then, and am pleased to see she thinks she could do it too. (She does rock climbing and other physical activities as hobbies, so I don't think she'll have any problem with building some muscle for the role, if they'll let her.
Over at the "Wonder Woman drawn by Chris Cross" thread, Lingster suggests that (a slim chance) they could go with a well-known athlete instead of an established star for WW (in the same way that Olympic athletes Johnny Weismuller and Buster Crabbe were tapped for the roles of Tarzan and Flash Gordon* respectively); Lingster suggests Gea Johnson. So I took a gander at her website and thought, "Hmm. Could Gea Johnson be Wonder Woman?" So I took this pic, fiddled with it a bit, and, well…
March 20, 2006 at 2:20 am #10393TC2ParticipantExcellent body, but her face doesn't fit the bill for me. Even with the hair coloring done and everything, I think everything is flawless but her face doesn't feel very WW to me.
March 22, 2006 at 10:24 am #10394HolidayParticipantI read a profile of an Italian actress, named Michela Fruet. She has studied kung-fu and weapons. If she worked out more she could look like a fit Wonder Woman.

Although Serenity does seem to indicate he's improved substantially.
I think that it's fair to say that – unless an unknown is used – we'll probably see some "buffed up" Hollywood actress.

I believe that in Buffy (the film), Aliens 4 and Titan AE he wrote but didn't direct. If Joss gets to write and direct his own stuff, then it's usually pretty good. The episodes of Buffy that are generally considered to be the best are his. I'm not sure about trusting him for something that carries so much continuity as Wonder Woman; I heard he did some stuff to X-Men during his stint on the comic that wasn't appreciated.
As for the actress, I totally agree. It's all about marketability and making money. Money, money, money! 🙄
March 23, 2006 at 5:21 am #10397HolidayParticipantWhedon puts in a lot of angst into his story. I don't see that in Wonder Woman, regardless of her struggle in 'Man's World'. Honestly, DC heroes shouldn't have much angst. It doesn't do well when dressed in their colorful costumes.

Depends on how recent this issue is. Nowadays the DCU's motto is "Destroy everything fun!"
