Agreed, offseason is much better, the women are bigger, stronger and (not so dangerously depleted) healthier. And as I've said before in the past, I prefer a measurable criteria for superiority and ranking (i.e. amount of weight, number of reps, time to achieve goal, etc) such as the WPW Strength Extravaganza (i.e. if you've ever seen the video coverage of Zuzana Korinkova liftin' away you know of where I mean – nuff said.) Or even the World Strongest Woman contests (been a while since that was on ESPN, or have you noticed – lit'l old Jill Mills musta intimated the men, hey?) To that of a subjective criteria with the placing going to the personal whims of the judges for that particular year.

When I think that I watched Jill Mills and Robin Coleman on the BBC in WSW in 2001 yet didn't appreciate what I was seeing… :'( :-[
As regards subjective judging: I don't have any beef with the principle; it's the application that I dissagree with. I would require all entrants to have bodyfat %ages taken by caliper (not the most accurate, I agree, but, if the same calipers are used throughout and the official wielding them is the same, then it shouldn't be too unfair) and a minimum %age set (with a 1% tolerance) so that contenders were not dangerously depleted or too dehydrated. I would write the judging criteria to take account of obvious signs of virilisation (surely an experienced judge can spot the facial signs?) and to place a greater emphasis on quality of physique and proportion as opposed to sheer mass, thrilling though it is. I would require a minimum length of routine and would encourage competitors to include interesting moves, particularly those that include an element of strength or flexibility by allowing the judges to add a small mark-up.
The purists would probably hate me for that, and I would say it's only a personal view. I feel that there are now so many great young FBBers that the organisers have a golden opportunity to regain support that the sport had in the Cory/Anja era with marketable competitors such as Cindy (he says swiftly bringing his post OT again), but that, by indirectly encouraging heavy steroid use as they are at present, they risk letting that opportunity slip through their fingers. Who among us would genuinely prefer for Cindy to sound like Ving Rhames (sp?) and have a square jaw and hook nose for the sake of an extra biceps inch?

I can't decide whether the thought bubble should read "Like what you're seeing?" or "Fancy some vertical dancing?" or whether it's a more predatory look as if to say "Don't mess", but it's a hot expression whatever it means.

Vertical dancing? WTF – I'm losing my sanity here – I meant HORIZONTAL dancing! ;D ::)
February 17, 2008 at 1:21 am #31196FettParticipantThere's an obvious gag here about how vertical dancing is possible, but since you're in a wheelchair, you wouldn't know much about it. But I've too much good taste to make it.
But I'm not filled with such good taste that I won't allude to it. 😛
I'm working on being a petter person. 😀

Well, I think I can see how vertical dancing would work – I might not know the joke, but just because I'm a wheelchair user doesn't mean to say I don't understand the world of the walking, you know. 😉
Is a petter person someone who strokes people? ::) ;D 😉
