BodySport Radio recently interviewed IFBB Pro Jennifer Gates. It's the first time I've listened to this show and the information is already shocking. It's been revealed that Jennifer Gates' late husband was abusive to her. Unfortunately, BodySport Radio also presented Jane Awad's own abused history in a previous. Another competitor will be interviewed in the near future.
I still remember the death of Amanda Savell at the hands of her abusive boyfriend. This problem needs to be stopped so that these women can treated as the champions they are, not victims.

Or that Sally McNeil was sentenced to 19 years to life for the shotgun slaying of her husband Ray in '96.
Also Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan are both serving prison time in Nevada for the murder/arson of Melissa James in '05.
And in ’98 Bertil Fox was convicted of the double murder of his former fiancee, and her mother, on the Caribbean isle of St. Kitts. He was to be executed (by hanging, no less) but it was changed to life in prison.

September 4, 2009 at 10:02 pm #86579AlexGKeymasterI might add, any time you mix hyper-competitive alpha-type personalities with drugs (enhancement and/or recreational) and add in the extremes of the contest lifestyle that's fraught with tunnel-vision – well, it's a volatile cocktail, one with the simmering potential for disaster.
I'm surprised that it doesn't happen more often. Or maybe it does, and we just don't hear about until something terrible and shocking occurs.
