The link didn’t work for me, had to do a search @ eBay to find it. B)

Custom 12″ INTRUDER FEMALE figure. This is actually a PROTOTYPE figure that I never really finished. This is figure is being sold as a stepping off point for someone to finish up with.

This from Infogalactic, for those not familiar w/ the 70’s era GI Joe or the Intruders line of action figures.

    Intruders

A notable absence in G.I. Joe’s early days was an antagonist (although a case can be made for the German, Japanese and Russian figures). In 1976 G.I. Joe and the Adventure Team met new foes from outer space, when The Intruders: Strong Men from Another World were introduced. The Intruders were supposedly super strong, highly intelligent alien invaders bent on conquering the Earth. These armored caveman-like aliens, although smaller than the G.I. Joe figures, had a button on their backs which could be pressed to make them grab with their “Crusher Grip” arms. These were available in the bearded and gold-armored commander, and the beardless, silver-armored warrior. Up until the introduction of these cavemen-looking armored aliens, Joe and his team had only the forces of nature and wild animals to fight. Now he was pitted against foes who—despite their brutish appearance—possessed keen intellect, and were bent on world domination.

Interesting. That box art is clearly a Jebroido illustration. I’m wondering if they actually commissioned him to do the box art or if it was stolen.

Also, that figure is hideous. Looks like a gorilla.

Yes, it does appear to be apeish, at least w/ head piece – but then, that was the archetype Hasbro was going for back then: muscular caveman, a brutish Neanderthal appearance to distinguish them from the GI Joes. (See my previous post above w/ the quote from Infogalactic) 😉 B)

Of course, since this a female prototype, the creator of the action figure could just as easily gone for the La of Opar motif – the woman are highly attractive, the men are ape-like brutes.

I did some searching, It appears That hasbro was going to to shrink G.I.Joe down to 10 inches for 1976 , this would put the figure in better scale with the intruder, There was suppose to be a main villian called Dr. Darkon who was a former member of the Adventure team. freak mishap Turn him Mean and green HUMMMMMMM. What no Gamma Bomb. fled the HQ . Made inside a mountain top His lair , found many of these Muscle heads frozen in ice and revived them and boosted there intellect. To because his army.
I agree Make the women hot looking and muscular route. I would just buy the Box, for the art if it was cheap!!!
