In the late 70's or early 80's a comic was published called The Warlord. It was about an American SR-71 pilot that crashed into (Ant?)Arctic. Can you see what's coming? He flies through a hole into the center of the Earth. The whole comic is about his adventures in the center of the Earth.
In one he gets captured by a veritable race of giants, it showcases his relations with the Queen of the giants. He has the typical American disdain for royalty and she literally slaps him to the floor. The upshot is that he eventually kicks giant ass and wins free.
Now, was this Marvel or DC I for the life of me cannot remember.August 11, 2005 at 2:11 pm #10743LingsterKeymasterDC.

IMHO DC literally ruined what Mike Grell had created when they decided to no longer have it as a independent comic storyline from the DC universe. Instead, they turned Skataris from a hollow Earth environment (on the lines of that of Edgar Rice Burroughs) into an alt-dimension co-existing with that of the DC Universe during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. This came complete with a storyline that included a scantily clad Powergirl working with Jennifer, the Sorcereress Supreme of Skataris.

If you want, at a later date I could post some scans from that Land of the Giants issue of the Warlord.

August 17, 2005 at 4:08 pm #10748AlexGKeymasterAs promised, The Warlord featuring the Giantess from the story “Land of the Titans” – pity it was a one-shot episode in the series.
And this issue also includes the introduction of the scantily-clad companion to Travis Morgan – the shape-shifter named Shakira – the Woman Who Is A Cat or is it that’s she’s A Cat Who Is A Woman . . . they left that a mystery unanswered throughout the series.
I did read a long while back when this particular issue was discussed on another GTS forum that someone (can’t remember who) was working on a revisit to the concept, albeit with Travis Morgan encountering another community of Titans/Titanesses in Skataris. Don’t know if anything came of it, tho. 😎
Ouch – what a back hand, that’s gotta smart. 😮
