I found this link in the sidebar of the Playstation Blog: http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/06/27/sony-mmo-dc-universe-online-first-details/
Seems that there's a DC Comics MMO game in the works for the PS3 and PC. The article includes a statement that you will be able to create your own original superhero(or superheroine, I assume) and interact with popular DC Comics characters. Apparently, creating a supervillain will also be an option, as it described a heroic mission where you save Superman from Lex Luthor, as well as a villain mission where you attack Metropolis and fight Superman.
I'm assuming that a player will be able to customize the body type of their character. With luck, it might be possible to create a busty, powerfully-muscled amazon. The obvious choice for powers for this type of character(at least for someone who frequents this board) would be super strength and invulnerability. Imagine controlling your muscle amazon and going head-to-head with Superman… AND WINNING! If this game is done right, it could be great for those of us so inclined. Of course, we'll have to be ready for severe disappointment, as well. Even though they've done some upgrades to the character creator since Beta, City of Heroes still can't generate a superheroine with anywhere near the amount of muscle we would like. Believe me, I tried when I got a 14-day trial subscription recently.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope that the programmers of this DC MMO will be able to give us enough customizability so that we can see the superheroine of our dreams in full HD on the PS3.

I thought the project was DEAD! :O I really hope we can create out own DC superheroines and muscular body types too for females. As a long time gamer of City of Heroes/Villains (45 months) I have about 10 of 28 chars who I really wish had more muscle tone. (they have the really thick but yet strong-looking figures too) DC is definitely my favorite comic publisher for superheroes (capes) but all I have to say is…RAMPAGE will BE MINE….YES OH YES! >;)Thanks for the info!

The DC one seems to still have life to it. Here's gamespot's take.

Wow! Jim Lee! So when is it due in stores? 2036?

(I know you can't use the real DC names) As far as Marvel Online, yup, it is dead…BUT, its replacement is Champions Online, another superheroine MMO coming out next year from City of Heroes guy Jack Emmert (ala Statesmen). I'll be getting both CO and DCO too, ahh, the Superhero games are making their way to us, finally!

Instead keep your eyes on this game, http://www.champions-online.com/
Full body customization which claims that you can make characters even "buffer" than She-Hulk or Wonder Woman. Sounds like a winner in my book.
June 28, 2008 at 8:33 pm #72483Zespara AlatharParticipantIt's about time that this product will finally see the light. I've been waiting for a Champions RPG game for what seems an eternity. I know that they advertised having a game back in the early 1990s but that whole project got bogged down and died.
Here's to them making having a successful launch and that it won't suck. The Champions game system was truly the best of the superhero genre RPG games (pen and paper) that were out there.
