Do we really need flood control?

One of my pet peeves about this website is the 90 second flood control limit.  Sometimes I just want to make my posts at each thread, and then get the hell out of dodge.  But with the 90 second time limit, which is a VERY long time in internet terms.  I have to wait around twiddling my fingers pressing refresh just so that I could make a freaking post!

Is there anyway we can reduce it to 30 or remove it altogether?  Considering the fact that we have like 5 moderators, I really don't see why we should worry about messages being flooded.

    Also as an edit:

It's been more than 90 seconds, I've got my stop watch on and it's been 6 minutes.  I am still getting that "wait 90 seconds" error for flood control, which leads me to believe that the system is bugged anyway.

It has irritated me in the past, too.

OK, it's 30 seconds now.  But if a spambot comes in and drops 120 messages on the site in an hour, then you two will be responsible for flagging 80 of them.

I have to say, the flood control really pisses me off too.

However, while I didn't know the reason till now, I assumed that Lingster had it up for a reason, so I just lived with it.

I hope knocking it down to 30 secs doesn't fuck up the site, Lingster. Thanks for dropping the flood control. ^___^

Excuse me Lingster – I only agreed that it had irriatated me in the past.  I didn't ask for it to be lowered to 30 seconds (not being rude to The_Collector_2, just saying).
If I find something that looks like spam, I'll flag it (how does one go about doing that?), but I'm far too busy now to spend very long on here, certainly too busy to take on a 'quota'.

I think that was a bit tongue and cheek cpbell with a teeny bit of seriousness thrown in for good measure.

I'll flag your stinking spam bots, they don't stand a chance against my vigilance!

Well, I am happy to have taught you a valuable life lesson called "the law of unintended consequences".

Touché – the winner, Da Boss, the Mighty Lingster.  ;D
