Here's a blurb explaing the show:
The Dr. Keith Ablow Show
Dr. Keith Ablow brings both his professional and personal experience as a psychiatrist, author, husband and father to daytime television, offering viewers practical solutions to everyday challenges on "The Dr. Keith Ablow Show."
This Friday he does a show called "Inside the Minds of Female Bodybuilders":
Dr. Keith takes viewers inside the minds of top female bodybuilders. These athletes work hard for their hard bodies, but is it possible to be strong and feminine at the same time?
There's a video preview at the site, here, and also a schedule of listings by state.

Sounds as though it might be a bit sensationalistic. I hope not, though, for the sake of the women.
April 26, 2007 at 10:04 pm #51003LingsterKeymasterI doubt it will be sensationalist, though the fact that it's a show hosted by a psychiatrist means that there is an assumption of dysfunction.
I've met Shelly Yakimchuk, who's appearing on the show, and she strikes me as emotionally healthy, socially competent and articulate. Some people may think Shelly's muscles are freaky, but no one's going to walk away from a conversation or an interview with her thinking that Shelly is a freak. She's a nice, friendly person.
However, at least one of the other female bodybuilders appearing on the program is an emotional train wreck who appears to me to have engaged in long-term abuse of steroids and androgens. I expect the discussion with her will follow from an implicit assumption that she is damaged.

As long as there was one participant who's reasonably sane, I suppose we can't grumble. What I feared was that this guy would use his position to conclude that any woman who wants to build muscle is insane and that it's wrong, unnatural, deviant etc. That would do a lot of harm if it happened. I hope that wasn't the case – did anyone here get to see it?

You're hours ahead of us! I've got my DVR set to record it when it plays later this morning, but my DVR is a pretty old Sony Vaio that fails sometimes. So we'll see.

Doesn't come on until later today here and I won't know until this evening when I rewind the tape for a reviewing.
Guess you'll just have to wait in suspense . . . ;D
And in case anyone is unfamilar with Shelly Yakimchuk – photos provided via AMG-Lite

It's not uncommon for some TV shows to play "gotcha" with guests: misrepresenting the theme or direction of the program to gain cooperation.
April 28, 2007 at 2:40 am #51008LingsterKeymasterParts of it were good, parts of it were bad. If I have time this evening I'll post some screencaps. Overall the show was pretty good but Nicole Bass was a huge turd in the punchbowl.
April 28, 2007 at 3:25 am #51009btxParticipantWell I'm a dork.
Mis-Programmed the VCR….AGAIN!
Perchance some kind sir will post youtube links here and there. Still, if Big Bass was on the show I may be thankful my tape didn't work.
