Time goes very fast, years can go by in a hurry.
FBB are not like most female celebrities; they seem to have even shorter shelf life. Here is what I think can happens to them years down the line. I have seen some really fine FBBs and two years down the road it’s like nooooooooo!
    1. Still in great shape and ages very well (usually natural athlete, muscular but not too big)
    2. Leave bodybuilding. Sometimes lose size, lost shape, lost muscles etc.
    3. Shows tell tale signs of PED abuse and/or aging.
    4. Health problem or death (might be caused by PED abuse).
    5. Retires and goes into hiding.

Yeah, in the current era the typical span seems to be around 2 to 3 yrs, some up to 5, then they’re gone.

A few seem to go for 7 or so, but by then are starting to look worse for wear, especially in the face.

Its not like back in the day, the women of the 80s/ 90s era seemed to be more conscious about retaining their overall feminine appearance, especially if they were in it for a long time.

Is this a question or are we postulating on why they have a short shelf life?

I think the reasons as to why they don’t last very long are quite well documented but I will restate the what has been said before.

1.) Bodybuilding is not an easily sustainable lifestyle. To maintain relevant in the sport you need to inject PEDS, Give up your social life, Spend a lot of money on food, and spend most of your time in the gym.

We may think that our bodybuilding babes are sexy, but we would never see them because they spend most of their time in the gym. Being a bodybuilder, especially a female one, makes it difficult to enjoy life when you have a strict training regimen.

There are exceptions to this rule, obviously, but they are exceptions.

2.) Where’s the money? Aside from the typical posing as a webcam girl, where do these female bodybuilders get their money from? FBB competitions are not lucrative compared to men’s. And competitions involving CrossFit have a chance of serious injury that could derail careers.

If they’re not willing to get naked and flex for the camera. Where do they get their income from?

I may enjoy drawing and creating animations. But if it doesn’t pay the bills, well eventually I have to stop doing it because it requires too much time for no sustainable income.

3.) Eventually I think for women, or rather, especially women. They eventually become disillusioned with the life of an FBB. I have seen many posts of women who have felt that FBB life was toxic, unfulfilling, or didn’t give them the self esteem boost they were looking for. Sometimes they have revelations about their own lives and wants and realize that being ultra ripped and muscular isn’t what they want for themselves.

I think this happens to women more often because they tend to be judged more harshly by their appearance than men. It’s unfair, but it is a fact. So there is more pressure for women to maintain femininity, and muscle is not considered feminine.

The ones who retain their muscles even if they are not competing are extraordinary. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they were lonely or not training as hard. Like I said before, to maintain shape requires a sacrifice of social outings and gatherings. And for women it’s even harder to maintain the muscle more than men. So it’s really no surprise they don’t last long in the sport.
