This is just something that kind of spun off from a story I'm working on.
I envisioned her as a She-Hulk type character – green, Amazonic, superstrong etc. – but I mean, any Amazon type would work… anyway. Female lead, she's maybe a bit shy and bookish. Just out of highschool. Starts interning with a mad scientist.
Anyway, after a while of this she's with her (somewhat) deranged employer the city is threatened. By famine, flood, plague, supervillain – anything really. Annie is worried, caring girl that she is. So crazy prof says "If you want – you can try some of this new potion." I suppose that it could be something else, maybe exposure to a type of radiation, whatever.
She obviously agrees, takes the potion and then transforms into her Amazon state, averts disaster and then quickly exits the scene when she finds the powers and body receding. The change shouldn't precipitate any kind of substantial alter ego – she'll still be Annie, just Annie in an Amazon body. So, she's a bit embarassed about it.
That's pretty much the basic setup. She relies on the potion for her powers and she's still herself. Then it goes on to deal with how she starts to become addicted and obsessed with her alter-ego, to the point where she does start to develop different personas.

April 20, 2006 at 7:18 pm #26849Prophet TenebraeParticipantI like it – obiviously – but too many unfinished projects to really conscienably take this one on.
It's basically a story to give a detailed look at a girl who never really thought about being a superheroine or anything like that… and starts out not knowing what to think about it but finds herself increasingly caught up in what she can become and maybe finding the lines between her "real" life and superhero one starting to blur.
Also, as a one time offer. The person that accepts this will get my creative and editorial input on the project.

Basically "Guy starts dating girl, she's secretly a superhero, he finds out, hijinks ensue". But your idea is very good.
April 21, 2006 at 3:49 am #26851FonkParticipantIt's a great idea – and my next project, after the sprawling epic of Florida ends, is going to be somewhat similar – but I'm afraid, as much as I'd love to, I can't take it on for you.
Sorry! Here's hoping you can find someone who will – the idea deserves to live! ๐
April 21, 2006 at 3:50 am #26852Prophet TenebraeParticipantI wanted Annie to get a boyfriend after she got her powers but to keep it secret – bit of a spiderman complex. Then later on, as she started to spend more time as her alter-ego, she'd probably cheat on him as her other self…
The whole thing though prompts her sexual awakening. Her increased confidence as super Annie allow her to go out and talk to men… and that trickles down to her normal life by allowing her to get a boyfriend. She'll probably be fairly religious before all this happened, so kind of uptight. Naturally, cheating on her boyfriend rather encourages the dichotomy within her. She becomes conflicted because she knows that she shouldn't cheat on her boyfriend but at the same time, derives so much pleasure from it.
Her (female) friend would find out though and eventually get to nagging her about trying the potion and Annie not wanting to share it – both because she's worried that she might experience the addiction and obsession. She's scared and excited at the idea… I'm not really sure how that will play out. Whether Annie will stay alone, get a sidekick, a partner or a nemesis…
This is typically me – overthink an idea I don't have time to do… still, people should feel free to use it.
But yeah, I'd love to help someone write this. Really, I think it's a good idea for anyone that wants to do something more than just a simple "wank" story. Naturally, if the author were intent on sending it to the story club, I'd be receptive ๐
April 21, 2006 at 6:50 pm #26853The_Pimp_NeonBlackParticipantProphet Tenebrae: You may wish to strip your ideas back until they are a basic skeleton of plot, motivation and character.
The who's, what's & where's, if you will. So you can understand how things should bare out within your own headThis is also a story that seems that it should be written in the Present/Past Tense.
That is have the story start in the middle of the Tale and have flashbacks and allusions to her initial transformation as she deals with her current problems, so the reader can see how things lead to this point for your protagonist. You may also wish to have the storyline about the female best friend desiring the potion/formula as a follow up story, once the initial premise and characters has been set up.
Best of luck with this piece.
Peace
The Pimp NeonBlackApril 21, 2006 at 8:33 pm #26854Prophet TenebraeParticipantHmm, retrospective flash backs were something I considered.
The thing with the friend – that was going to be later on. I had imagined it as a pretty long story. Covering maybe a few years. It would probably start at the end of her first year, with her thinking back to her first change.
As to the motivations and so on – that's really all in my head… I tend to write stories in a bit of a strange way. I tend to create stories based on an idea – often a single scene. I'll then fly by the seat of my pants and hope that it works out as a story.
Thus far, it's worked ๐
But anyway, as I've said – at the moment, I really can't write this. I'd love to help someone else do it though. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions.
