Why are they making an Anglo version of Ghost in the Shell? Why can’t they just do something original?
This is so disappointing. And worse, it could be PG-13!
I highly doubt it would be PG-13. Most movies of the same genre in live action, are usually R rated.
And they are making an “anglo version” because it is a good story and someone thinks it could make a good mainstream, Hollywood blockbuster type film. If they left it all Japanese, (actors, setting, morals) like the anime, you would hear nothing but the sounds of pins dropping in the theatres.

What muscular? Yes, she is moderately athletic looking, like Johannson was in The Avengers. The only place in Ghost in the Shell you see any “muscle” is when she is trying to pry open the hatch to the tank watching over The Puppetmaster. And even then, as she continues to strain and pull herself apart, you see they aren’t muscles at all, but artificial sinew, motors and framework of her constructed body.
She is a lot more muscular than Johansson even if its artificial. You think she is athletic looking????
Yes, I do. No, no huge muscles, but her body was sleek and strong looking in the Marvel movies and Lucy. Athletic doesn’t necessarily equal bulked up muscles. Just look at WNBA players, tennis stars, figure skaters.

I was happy to just boycott the film.
One reason I don’t want to see Dreamworks’ version is because Hollywood is still stuck in 20th century sci-fi attitudes. They repeat themes of Bradbury and Philip K. Dick. But Ghost in the Shell has themes that have moved past them.

If anyone sees it, please let us know if they actually do it in this movie, I know it’s a long shot, and I realize it’s PG 13 so she won’t be naked, but let’s just say, I would need to “take care” of a few things if we get Scarlett’s face on an FBB.
March 11, 2017 at 9:16 am #134211philipParticipantI like Scarlett better in the Black Widow outfit.
March 12, 2017 at 10:57 am #134232Robert McNayParticipantI’ll probably go. I’m a major fan of the whole GitS universe, having both versions of the original, the second movie and both stand alone complex series.
But I have seen the final trailer and it appears they have made major changes to the storyline. One of the changes, in the original movie, her human past was forgotten, the only thing of it was its “ghost” in her brain. The trailer, it looks like you actually see when the Major was “created”.
That and the “whitewashing” bit, I’ll reserve my judgement.Though Scarlett looks damned hot and in really good shape in the thermoptic suit.

March 21, 2017 at 1:19 am #134324unkn0wnxParticipantShe had to kowtow to her liberal canon.
Wonder why she starts in action role anyway? Wonder if she lift plastic weights -
