Well… obviously. There are plenty of unpleasant growth disorders. Virginal breast hypertrophy isn't pretty either. The human body has a whole lot of ways to fuck up.
Women who are victims of acromeglic gigantism are far from our fantasy giantesses which, unfortunately do not exist (hence "fantasy"). It usually results from a brain tumor in the vicinity of the pituitary gland which causes it to go wild producing far too much HGH. In some cases it can be removed and the person can be helped. In other cases it is inoperable and the condition persists usually resulting in debilitating disability and eventual death. The late Sandy Allen grew to over seven and a half feet tall. She was confined to a wheel chair for most of the late stage of her life. Yao Defen of China is about the same height and appears to be heading toward a similar fate. It affects virtually all organs and bones incuding those of the face usually resulting in grotesque facial deformity. That's why we never see a giantess who looks like Anna Kournakova. But we can always dream ::)
Before the Daily Mail article, I'd seen the interview on Today and read the article at their website.

I'd also been aware of the late, great Sandy Allen, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandy_Allen who had gotten a lot of stick about her own body size and shape. But she made a point to not let it keep her down. In fact, she'd been a strong positive person, and had helped kids learn that it's okay to be different. I was particularly impressed on her outlook on one interview, saying that she thought most people made jokes and nasty comments to "cut her down" so they wouldn't feel so small next to her.
Education World article on her here. http://www.education-world.com/a_curr/curr004.shtml
My heart and prayers go out to Tanya Angus. She seems rather down about her own situation. I hope she'll get the cures and help she needs, and meanwhile will take heart, see the good examples, and try to be positive.
Any way we can reach Tanya and let her know we're rooting for her?
