I’ve seen it used before in reference to female deities, but you’re right, it should be Goddess.

Just like you see / hear the word gender improperly applied when the correct word should be sex.

Sex is what you are – male or female. Gender is orientation.

I taught Mythology for close to a decade at a small charter school in Arizona, and it was one of my favorite classes to teach; unfortunately, funding dried up because it didn’t directly contribute to higher test scores, despite the fact that my students did measurably better on standardized tests than any other group in the school.
