I think it would go better as a sub-con instead of a dedicated con. I can't imagine a large enough crowd that will attend it. Unless the people going can grow to 50+ feet tall and fill in the con space. ;D
Seriously though, maybe a growth attraction / panels / cosplay in a Sci-Fi con may be better and will work better to bring people out of their closets.
March 26, 2007 at 5:49 am #38176ChuckParticipantI know the feeling. We see how some people respond to some fetishes in the media and we worry ours would get the same reaction (What the hell is up with that!?), even though as far as being portrayed either positively or negatively, FMG and its ancillary fetishes like BE remain largely untouched. I mean, imagine telling someone you love and find attractive, "I fantasize about you getting really angry and growing really big and muscular. I still love you just the way you are."
Unlike some fetishes, this one deals with one's physical appearance, which people are often very sensitive about, and so are reluctant to voice it not only because there's the normal worry of seeming odd to one's beloved but also the worry of making one's beloved feel insecure about him or herself.
Which means that if there were a growth convention, folks would be very shy about admitting they liked it and would attend, much like the protagonists in FMG stories the world over ;).
April 18, 2007 at 2:49 am #38177LeonardoParticipantWhat is the real chance of someone knowing you if your going to a city that you have never previously been too?
As far as your girlfriends, I am pretty sure if you manged to keep it a secret on-line you could figure out something when going to a weekend convention. No having the money or real means to get there are at least ligitate and real concerns. The concern of the girlfriends is in part one also but worrying that someone in a city that one has never been to knowing that your there is a bit of a stretch isn't it.
Did I mention I'm a poor college student? 😛

I mean I still want to, even on a small tiny scale, but when you consider an inability to ensure total privacy, money, and well…money, it just is not feasable for now.
Those who wanted to go, thanks for the support, but its a definite no go. However when I go on vacation and some one into growth is in the area I'll be in I'm more then happy to meet and discus the topic, and if you want to travel with me, the more the better.
That's all folks,

All you need is someone living in a transport hub – like maybe New York or London – with a reasonably sized house and the inclination to have a bunch of pervs come visit. I really don't see why you're making it out as if this is the Normandy Landings, Magnus – sure it would take a little effort to work out the best time to have the thing and such but that's just my take.

I would be less likely to go if it was part of something else because there's all those people around you that can judge you.
April 27, 2007 at 8:56 am #38181gblock01ParticipantUmm… well… that's true, but not everyone makes judgements about every little thing, such as what a person likes. Most, unless directly confronted with something, will ignore it. Besides what does it matter if some random person sees you. So long as it's no one that knows you, they probably won't remember.
May 4, 2007 at 4:22 pm #38182baditude41ParticipantPersonally, I think it's a really great idea. After all, many people have/attend other cons for their interests…so why should that be an exception? Also, if someone you know does happen to see you at one, what would give them the right to say anything? They're at the con too…so there wouldn't be anything for them to say, and not look idiotic themselves.
