Hello! New guy here.
Pretty much everywhere on the internet that I go to that involves muscular women, there’s always the comments of
“she looks like a man”
“disgusting” *misspelled in various ways*
“if you like this then you’re gay”
This attitude seems to be present almost everywhere that the content is. And while I realize that female muscle fetish is a niche thing, I don’t really get why these comments are so prevalent. If female bodybuilders disgust someone, why are these people going on these youtube videos/facebook pages anyway? Do they feel the need to comment on everything that displeases them in some way? Do they really think that it matters?
Maybe I’m just reading too much into it, but some reactions give off the impression that they’re being threatened somehow. Like everything that doesn’t fit into neat little stereotypes needs to be stop existing.
I know the internet is just teeming with hostility, but after a while I get really sick of seeing all this bile directed at muscular women/people who admire them. Whatever happened to “Live and let live”?
I’ve found that it’s a mixed bag; insofar as a public setting is concerned.
There are some males/females that are genuinely turned off by the concept of femuscular women.
For them it’s something enitirly else [fill in the blank] that they find attractive, but that’s all.
Not nasty about it, just not interested.
Then there are those that make the kind of comments that are rude, even derogatory. Why?
Perhaps they are intimated; feel that they aren’t as in fit a shape.
You can also throw in a dose of envy w/ some of this insecure-w/themselves type.
Possibly they are secretly attracted to them, but in an effort prove they are normal
(really, whatever the heck that is) especially among their peer group of friends,
so they expressed themselves in that manner.
“I like a good story well told. That is the reason I am sometimes forced to tell them myself.”
~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)
This is the Internet where it’s easier to hate than to say nothing. This doesn’t only apply to bodybuilding male or female. Pick any topic no matter how popular.
