I know what you are talking about DP and unfortunately I have quit reading many of the stories because of this aspect. One of my favorite stories that I would love to see others model is Hiccups by whoopsy.

Granted one girl gets incredibly horny but her character was developed that way so it does not appear out of the ordinary for her.
I would like to see more stories of just growth and enjoyment rather than having to see it just turn to sex.
May 30, 2008 at 4:12 pm #71080AlexGKeymasterNothing new with what you say – I remember yrs ago ^^Brigid once telling me that the people who produce the most low brow of stories get the most feedback. While those who write fiction with a real storyline were lucky to get a hand full of comments. 8)
Even so, my last story, a SW/Minizon one, was far better received here then I had any reason to expect, given the fact that it was a shrink story.
I think he main problem is:
Write a good story, without the whole sexual stuff: You get comments, saying you wrote a good storyWrite a story involving a musclegrowing female sexmonster:
You get tons and tons of comments saying how ingenious your story is.And therefore writers might tend to write the second type more often.
The first story may even be better narrated and more creative, but it just dont gets the same response as the second.Well i have to admitt i like to read those ravenous muscle girl stories from time to time, but youre right. Its always the same and its a pitty that there are so little other stories around here.

~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)May 30, 2008 at 5:10 pm #71081LingsterKeymasterAnother thing is that 10 or 12 years ago, I tried to minimize the sexual content of my stories in the hope of mitigating personal life problems if my name was revealed. Last thing I wanted was to wake up 20 years later and be branded as someone who posted porn stories to the internet.
However, it now appears that in another 8 or 10 years, very little stigma will still remain attached to that sort of thing. Hell, Al Franken's U.S. Senate run is in a bit of trouble because of pornographic material he wrote for Playboy years ago, but he's probably going to win the nomination, anyway.
May 30, 2008 at 5:34 pm #71082TC2ParticipantWell that definitely listed one of the reasons I avoid reading certain stories that are posted here. Everything tends to be ridiculously sexual in nature and man does that get old for me.
I know that for me, when I'm writing a story the sexual content is either non existent or kept to a bare minimum unless it's important to the story which it rarely is. The sex in my opinion is almost too formulaic, it makes the stories predictable and turns them into porn videos, all self satisfaction with very little substance.
Personally for me, it's more interesting to see the kinds of situations characters get into and how they will resolve the issue. What's going to happen next in their lives? How are their lives going to change? How much more depth lies beneath the surface of their personalities? I can read about sex anytime I want, it's the internet. I'd rather read about these people who are going through extraordinary circumstances and how they cope.
But that's just me.

May 30, 2008 at 5:47 pm #71084JimmyDimplesParticipant*sigh* I know this dilemma isn't new.
Just let me add my comment to the pile: while I admit I crave the praises, the hits, the comments, the dA faves and all… none of it's worth it if I have to do something I'm not comfortable doing for it.
My stuff might not be #1 on any lists, but some things are more important. In MY book, anyway.
May 30, 2008 at 6:22 pm #71085AlexGKeymaster*yes I write FURRY stories, sorry if that bothers you…but well not everyone does shakespeare*
She writes Furry stories? I like Furry stories, I've even writen a Transgenic story with a lioness-woman, she even repeated re-appears in some of my other superheroic stories. 8)
Did I say I like Furry stories? ;D
What? You don't like Furry stories? 😮
**Looking sharply out of the monitor** Yes, you! >:(
What's wrong with you that you don't like them? 😉

You write good stories, Jimmy. I don't think anyone would argue otherwise.
May 30, 2008 at 9:41 pm #71087Deadly PixxxieParticipantAh. I'm seeing a trend here.
The elders/well-known folks are against it.
The n00bs are all "get over it, it satisfies a fetish".
Well, unfortunately, not everyone's into FMG/GTS with blatant sexual overtones. I know I'm not. If the main character ends up having sex, so be it….but I don't want to hear about her "heaving breasts and throbbing clit". That's just gross.
*shrugs*
Maybe I'm a prude. I don't know. But I'm not down on all the XXX rated stuff in these stories…..and this is coming from someone with XXX in her name.

Ah yes, because I don't have a quadrillion posts, I'm a n00b.
Go ahead, survey the story archive on DtV, and show me that XXX material is some sort of recent trend.
It's not. It's been a significant part of the genre for as far back as I'm aware.
