I just can't agree with that from my own personal experience. I have more than 2000 pages of stuff that I have written that no one else will probably ever read. Mostly because I don't like the way some of that stuff turned out. And that 2000+ isn't fetish stuff at all. It's adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, or drama or whatever, but I have never written a FM story that I didn't intend from the beginning to be read by other people.
Your statement doesn't make sense on a lot of levels. I know some guys who take their guitars out to the park and play for the kids, and they don't get paid a dime. Are they singing in the park to hear their own voices? They could do that at home. Same with a story. The idea for the story is in my head before I ever write it down. The beginning, the middle, the end, all the images, all the struggles or fights or whatever are usually in my head in one form or another before I ever type the first word. Why the heck would someone like me take the time to try and describe what's already in my head to other people for my own pleasure? I've already told myself the story. I could save a lot of wear and tear on my keyboard if what you said was true.
I suppose you hold your opinion because money is not in the equation. Well if truth be told, I have written for money, and its more enjoyable for me to write when I don't have to worry about this story being the difference between eating and not eating. I love to write. Its one of my hobbies. I like telling stories in person and I love sharing them with other people. I wouldn't mind making money off of writing as long as I wasn't dependent on that money. Readers are fickle 😉
I can't see how anybody would get pleasure from typing out something that inside their head has already happened, or maybe they type it as they think about it. I don't know, but I would like someone to explain that one to me.
June 2, 2008 at 11:33 pm #71120AlexGKeymasterBut as it is now, just getting me to read something is a challenge in of itself, but it must have been a pretty good story if you got me to read it. Even better if you got me to comment on it!
That's pretty much my sentiment….except I prefer to read it & have it described to me….as opposed to look at a picture or animation…but that's me.
Well, generally speaking men are visually inspired by pictures/video, whereas women are stimulated by the written word. There are exceptions to this rule, to be certain, in both sexes.
Myself, I can enjoy a well-crafted collage, drawing or video clip, but vastly prefer the four-dimensional aspects of a good story – theater of the mind, if you will.

Why? Because there seems to be little demand for what I produce. That's fine. It does not at all discourage me from producing but it certainly does not encourage me to post more than I do.Sorry Hunter, I totally forgot, another story that I have loved ever since reading it is Little Hillary Ms Hyde. It is another example of the type of story that has just about the perfect mix of everything. Sure she gets it on with a couple of guys but that is not what I'm reading for and so the fact that it is nothing but an after-thought works perfectly for me.
On the other hand, I can very much see how some people are truly into the nitty-gritty details of a sexual encounter and all the different ways to describe them. It is no less of a fetish than just liking the FMG or GTS aspect of a story. I want those described in as much detail as possible, dragging it out for several paragraphs is perfectly fine with me. It would just seem, Deadly Pixxxie, that we are in a growing minority of people who do not care as much for the sexual aspect and are willing to read/write about it.
I know I don't write stories, but I certainly love to read them. This however is one area where we differ. I read them because they excite me. It is the exact same reason I like certain pictures the way I do. When I read a book, I read it because I like the story itself (without getting "excited"), but when I read a short story on Amaz0ns or any other related website, it is strictly for one reason. Sure I like the story, and I am definitely hoping for a certain writing style, but I am still reading it for that same reason.

Question: And why is that?
Answer: Not all, granted, but nevertheless far too many people who enjoy reading that sort of story will sit on their upholstered duffs without saying a word in acknowledgement.
If you want more of those type of stories, then it becomes implicit upon you to speak up when they're being posted. Otherwise the writer (and by extension anyone else who might also write similar such stories) is going to believe there isn't enough of an interest in them to bother in the first place.

READER'S WARNING: CONTAINS PLOT, DEVELOPMENT, MORE THAN ONE ACT, AND LOTS OF MULTISYLLABIC WORDS.
Or…
Due to the non-graphic nature of this piece, no reader discretion is advised. In other words, everything's dandy. So kids, get your moms and dads and some cereal and a cruller, and enjoy our story.
That oughta satisfy and alert all us no-sex-please-we're-TRULY-mature freakazoids. 😛

Sorry, been away from the board for a couple of day, but I could help but agree with DP about that hilarious post. Thanks Jimmy!
