Aw, just say she's ugly if you think she's ugly. ::)
As I say, I don't find Isabelle ugly in offseason shape. I do feel that she (ike many) suffers from the "pinched cheeks" contest look, but I still find her attractive in this set of photos. I was just philosophising, that's all.

December 21, 2007 at 9:43 pm #63925cpbell0033944ParticipantReturning to the Belle thread after a period of time, I have just performed an interesting experiment. I have looked again at the images of her from the start of this thread after having looked at images of some of the largest and (in my opinion) most steroid-affected FBBs. This reveals an interesting conclusion which is that, if I spend my time looking at photos of just the competitors in my Goddess's list (yes, it still lives!), then I can easily become hyper-critical. However, after broadening my horizons and looking at some of the really extreme FBBs, returning to Isabelle seems very comforting. I still find her contest appearance less than pleasing, but I'm certain that it's as much due to JDF (Johanna Dejager Factor)* as the unmentionable steroids.
In short, on returning to her, Isabelle seems gorgeous, fresh-faced and huge. I'm not saying that it's impossible to micro-analyse and find an area where you can't point the finger at steroids as a possible influence (it would be ridiculous to pretend that getting to her size is easy without help), but, quite frankly, I can do the same with most FBBs and a good %age of Figure competitors as well, and, having spent around 9 months doing it (last December through until late this summer), I've given-up doing it as it spoils my enjoyment, and, now that I'm a hard-working research student again, I find that I've done enough analysing in the laboratory, without doing it here as well.
Now, I'd just like to state that I'm not criticising Grandmaster nor disrespecting his views. I merely wanted to clarify my position and share with you the results of my little test as I thought the results might be interesting to other members. 😉
(* Johanna Dejager Factor is my name for what might also be called Contest Shape Syndrome, which describes the effect of depletion and dryness on normally very beautiful women. I named it JDF because I first noticed it in the Candian Bombshell herself – she's a very beautiful woman who seems to suffer facially from depletion more than others, IMO.)
December 22, 2007 at 9:34 am #63926TheJimmyLegsParticipantWell said! Though I would still call it CSS, as it ruins many a shot for more than just the lovely JD for me.
But I've never enjoyed ladies even in figure in contest shape…. to each their own.

December 22, 2007 at 10:43 pm #63929AlexGKeymasterIf she's wearing the clothing (the two-piece, baseball cap and sox) while standing on that bathroom scale (which appears to be the case) subtract about 2 pounds as tare weight from the total.
Even so, 186.5# is still (expletive deleted) damned impressive for a woman of her height.

~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)December 22, 2007 at 11:34 pm #63930TigersanParticipantPerhaps his writing style was a touch cold, but I see his point. As I stated yesterday, I still find Isabelle attractive in offseason condition, but I can see what he is referring to. I have personally had the same thing happen with another young athlete who I thought was cute…until I saw a video interview of her which revealed her voice to be VERY deep, not "for a woman" but deep full stop. I'm afraid to say, whilst I still greatly admire her achievement, I don't find her attractive as I used to.
All of us have a personal threshold beyond which we cease to find these women of power less attractive; for some of us, that threshold is very generous and almost never breached, for others, it's much tighter and restricts us to finding only a small handfull of athletes seriously attractive. Personally, I'm somewhere in the middle. My problem is that i'm a hypocrite because there are some women (such as Melody Spetko) who I still find mysteriously sexy even though they have crossed the rubicon, yet others who have not yet done so leave me cold. Of course, my dream is that we will be able to use transcription factors to help women increase muscle mass without increasing levels of testosterone-mimicking hormones in the bloodstream; until then, I really want to see both male and especially female BBers penalised for showing obvious signs of heavy steroid use (you won't convince me that experienced FBB judges can't tell a heavy roid user when she's on stage).
I feel liek adding something to it. I know couple figure girls personally beautiful ones, and they use roids too, ofcourse not in the amounts that bodybuilders do but they do, im not saying all of them do, but most… Theres really small% of women that really have genetics to get muscles without "help"…. thats my 5 cents…
Not that I mind steroid use, I mind steroid ABUSE…December 23, 2007 at 12:12 am #63931cpbell0033944ParticipantNot that I mind steroid use, I mind steroid ABUSE…
I feel exactly the same way – I regard steroids as an almost necessary evil – it's when they are taken too far that I lose interest.

My views…? I think you mean my vision. (I didn't say anything–as usual–except to ask for a little more passion when discussin' a lady.)
