From the Denver Post:
Larry Bourbonnais, a combat-tested Vietnam veteran, said it was the bravest thing he's ever seen.
Bourbonnais, who was among those shot by a gunman Sunday at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, watched as a security guard, later identified as Jeanne Assam, calmly returned fire and killed the shooter.
"She just started walking toward the gunman, firing the whole way," said Bourbonnais, who was shot in the arm. "She was just yelling 'Surrender!' walking and shooting the whole time."
Assam probably saved dozens of lives.
And while doing so she called upon the power of the Holy Spirit to help steady her aim.
That's sure to miff the Berry Lynn types about the Separation of Church and State in the workplace.
“I like a good story well told. That is the reason I am sometimes forced to tell them myself.”
~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)
Like the terminator or something…

Apparently she was fired from the Minneapolis Police Department, 10 or 15 years ago, for lying during an investigation into whether she had used foul language to address a bus driver. So that's the media counter-thrust – "Even though she saved the lives of dozens of people, we shouldn't forget that a decade ago she cursed at a bus driver and then denied it." They're also describing her as a "security guard" or "security officer" when she was actually closer to an usher – a volunteer member of the congregation who attended the first church service and then stuck around to help out at the second.
I don't care what might have happened in the past. I'm glad she had the courage( and balls) to try to take the shooter down. In my book she's a real Amazon Hero.
I'd love to see a photo enhancement of her.
