The nude scene, to me, was nothing special.

Whether she has a femuscular build or not is immaterial to me.
Nice, additional bonus if she does, even if it’s only fit look. If not, that’s not a make it or break it factor w/ me.

What does matter, is 1) can she play the role convincingly,
and 2) is the story plausible enough to have a suspension of disbelief that can last the length of the film.

Both of which, are increasingly rare, in my humble opinion.

Typically, with current era films, if you don’t get my attention in the first twenty mins or so, I’m ejecting the DVD.

Moreover of late, I’ve been revisiting older films and television mini-series, some of them thirty or more years old and I’m finding that I’m extremely impressed with many of them. An example being the adaptation of James Clavell’s Shogun from 1980. The quality not only stands out, but surpasses a plethora of more recently made films – and mind you, this was not a movie, but TV mini series from several decades past. I don’t believe that they could make something of that caliber today with acting pool that’s on hand, or create a better script with the writers that they now have.

In my mind, such just demonstrates just how far Hollywood has deteriorated.

Yeah. I watched some Sean Connery, Roger Moore era Bond and then watch the crap today. Movies are not made the same way.

I would say that Daniel Craig has done well with the four installment reimagined Bond, each an individual story, but part of a longer storyline.

Going back to an earlier posting of mine, the problem with Passengers was that people (I think wrongfully) were expecting the same type of fem-empowerment film that they had previously seen w/ JLaw in the Hunger Games movies. Passengers is not a zip-bang action flick, its an old fashioned, reminiscent of the 70s era, classic storytelling sci-fi film.

I’m not impressed. I read a Looper piece about actors who suffered permanent injuries for preparing for a role or on-set accidents. Mila Kunis got back into smoking to lose weight. She also complained how her body couldn’t go back to what it was because of the exercise. Hollywood has not improved at all in encouraging truly fit lifestyle or protecting their actors from harm. Even women’s magazines won’t embrace athletic physiques in actresses.

The simple fact is that the vast majority of the populous might have some inkling that you have to lift weights, maybe do cardio, but they don’t have any real depth of application for the amount of dedication and sacrifice that goes into achieving a superior level of physique development. Even for those that are not inclined to go the contest circuit route, you have to give up a lot in social activity – and even for friends or family members, they can’t really comprehend why you have to eat a certain way, and at specific times of the day, or can’t go out for some event or other, instead you have to be in the gym on a scheduled regular basis.

This is not something you do on a whim, you either have a passion for it, or not at all.
