He past up the role because he didn't want Superman in the movie to interfere with Superman on smallville and end up getting type casted or something like that.
Christian Bale and Brandon Routh passed up being in the JLA movie because they're worried that if the JLA movie is campy, it will ruin their characters. After Batman Forever and Batman and Robin, no one took Batman seriously. So once Batman Begins came it fixed the Batman image issue, so if JLA ends up being campy…
Well it would be back to square one again.
Right now, the producers aren't really caring about "looks" for the role. They're just trying to get people casted as soon as possible so they could start production because there is a rumor of an actor's strike next year which could end up causing problems for the movie if they don't start by this year or early next year.
Any sourcing on this, buckaroo?

And now, back to our show!
I ran this by a friend of mine who's a HUGE Wonder Woman fan. Her biggest beef with Jessica Biel as Wonder Woman was her height; Biel is, as she said, "Not a tall woman".

Biel's about 5'7"….Beckinsale's about….5'8"-5'9"….

The rest was in the yahoo news wire but I checked the links like at 10 in the morning and have no clue where they are now. Also I go to cityofheroes.com and check out their comic culture forums, as the "geeks" tend to grab all the information on these movies pretty fast.
As for the strike, the gist is that when the SAG contract expires next year the actors are going to go on strike. This is the plan which has been in a few papers and yahoo newswire. So a lot of companies are trying to wrap up production before the strike hits, IF it hits.

Sorry, Sir A L. I'm rather out of my depth on this topic anyway, so I'll withdraw now after saying that I'm coming round to the idea of Kate B having the part.

I have a Growth Rack here at The High Castle, if that will help stretch them into the part. 😉

~ Mark Twain / Samuel Clemens (1907)September 26, 2007 at 5:34 pm #61055Amazon LoverParticipantMy friend who'd commented on Biel's height said that her ideal Wonder Woman actress height would be around 5'11" or 6', as Wonder Woman IS, after all, an amazon.
We discussed other candidates for the job, trying to think of females who are tall and reasonably muscular. She'd suggested Lucy Lawless. I'd suggested Joanie Laurer, who – despite still looking strong – seems to have bulked down somewhat in recent years, although now that I give her a second thought, I don't know if her voice sounds right for the part.
September 26, 2007 at 5:43 pm #61056cpbell0033944ParticipantI know I said I wouldn't get involved anymore, but Lucy Lawless would be great; also, here's a left-field (to use an American term) suggestion – how's about Diana Ball?

Really? I didn't know that WW was an Amazon! It's not like I've been collecting the comics since I was seven years old…..
>:(
She's gonna have to settle for whoever they pick for the part. There isn't ANYONE in Hollywood that's ravishingly beautiful, fit enough (for you guys), famous enough AND tall enough.
The movie's not going to be accurate to the tee. None of them have been…..
September 26, 2007 at 6:53 pm #61058ScottGParticipantWell put DP, no one that I can think of will fit all of the criteria for the Amazon Princess, so we will all have to settle for who they pick. I could do without the famous enough criteria and the beautiful enough criteria is in the eye of the beholder after all, so if they can fit the tall enough and fit enough categories then I would be satisfied. Oh, and since not matching hair color seems to be a trend these day (Jimmy Olson in Superman Returns and Daisy Dukes in the Dukes of Hazard remake), I would also prefer to see her jet-black hair.
