Hard ‘Work’ Paying Off For Young Lifter

Coming in at just 22-years-old, Jessica Work is another highly promising young bodybuilder debuting on the Studio in a photoshoot from the NPC Nationals, where the native of New Martinsville, West Virginia competed at the national level for the first time.
After a successful run on the regional side, the fresh-faced and statuesque 5-foot-9 Jessica — who looks a lot like the brunette-curled Stephanie Cubellis — endured some growing pains in the tough light-heavyweight class and finished out of the top 15.
But considering we’re talking about the first major show for a former elite power lifter only a few years removed from a 295-pound bench press and 405-pound deadlift — both U.S. Powerlifting Federation teenage records — it’s impossible to think Jessica won’t train harder and come out more determined than ever to impress the judges the next time she hits the stage.
“My life is in the gym,” Jessica writes on her myspace page. It’s that kind of dedication that’s helped her get this far — and sporting bicep peaks in the same ballpark as Mindi O’Brien, it’s pretty far indeed.
