    Never saw a last name such as Malacarne before [it must be from spain]
    my rough translation is 'mal-a-carne' = "something bad for the flesh" 

    Yes, I thought it sounded rather Spanish – I did study Espanol many years ago in school.  Never has an FBB had a less appropriate surname!

    Actually, it is "mala carne" separated and it does mean bad meat.
