I doubt that. Actually I think the net number might even increase. Yes some might switch from bodybuilding to crossfit, but what I guess is the biggest thing, crossfit allures much more women in to lifting weights than traditional bodybuilding, fitness or figure classe at the moment will. From there some might notice changing bodies is their thing and transfer to body training.

I agree with Maitolasi. Maybe some will be lure away, but probably more women will start training and then get into BB, physique, figure. Rising tide lifts all boats.

Doubtful,..just like Bodybuilding in late 70s-early 90s & wrstling from the late 80s-2000s
People jump on whatever they see on TV
Nobody has a tale of “I saw on Espn a bodybuilding show in high school”anymore..
Or went in a gym&a FBBer there brought a strength in me to aspire for the BBing stage
Majority of stories are gonna be a saw REEBOK’s Crossfit on Espn&it motivated a spirit within me,etc,..
With the advent of Physique catergory&losing Kortney Olson,Fabiola Boulanger,Annie Thorisdottir,Kristen Johnson&a few others i can’t recall crossing over to either style of “SPORT”
    Hope is running out…

In the beginning of ones athletic career it’s only essential that something made him/her grab the barbell. In crossfit there are bits from many other fitness areas and I believe that with time we are going to see lots of people who started with circuit training and changed to other sports as they saw it was more their thing. Crossfit is still a very young brand so pretty much all the athletes have come from different sports but as more and more start their athletic journey with it, we will see migration to other direction.

Just look at what crossfit has done to weightlifitng; how many americans even knew such lifts as snatch and clean&jerk existed? I don’t know has it brought people more in competitions – in audience or actually to lift themselves – but at least there is a large group now who are educated that such sport even exists.

Never heard Annie Thorisdottir was training for body classes. I thought she was a pole vaulter before starting crossfit. And as for Kortney, she’s done armwrestling and other stuff too so I guess bodybuilding really wasn’t that much her thing.
