September 12, 2005 at 2:58 am #12961AnonymousGuestI live across the river from Liverpool.
I love Liverpudlians – some great people (including my boss!) – chirpy and always up for the crack (at least the ones I seem to bump into, but then I've never lived in the city centre…)
Oh, I decided to chuck a few of those Scouse jokes into Babelfish to get it translated into American, so our brothers and sisters across the ocean wouldn't feel left out, and this is what they came up with:
What do you call a guy from Compton?
It depends on whether or not he's carrying a gunEr… I think you're right, Kulli. Those language translators are shite.
September 12, 2005 at 1:38 pm #12962EricParticipantI think Kulli's jokes were self-explanatory, but I appreciate the effort. 😆
And I've heard there are lots of different accents in the UK, though I'm not sure I could tell the difference.
But I'd love to visit London someday & try it, sometime! 😀
What's a Scouse?

The English, in general, area lovely people with such amusing vocalisations and termanology.
Though for true experineces with forms of English accents, try spending your teenage years being raised by London Rastafarians. That doth give you a most interesting slant on language.
Peace

I love the way you use language, Pimp. It's kind of part-Dolemite, part-Shakespearean and totally righteous!
September 16, 2005 at 11:30 am #12968EricParticipantDolemite…? 😐
PS: I like the way you write, too, Pimp! 😀

September 16, 2005 at 12:03 pm #12969VicParticipantBeing one of those Colonials from across the pond (American), this thread has made me laugh from one entry to the next. I as well did not need the Babelfish to be able to laugh at the Scouse jokes. Although my interests in history probably left me with a broader sense of humor than the more insular among the worlds inhabitants.
