One of the reasons I started Shulkie.com was that the guys who run the old Boardhost She-Hulk forum are both inept and controlling.
Anyway, tonight – without an email, without a post – they banned me, apparently for the offense of starting a rival site. Kinda crappy thing to do. I wrote it up here:

November 8, 2007 at 4:29 pm #63109AlexGKeymasterWell, you're not alone, I got banned by the ops a long time back for my standing up to the noisy nasty anti-femuscle trolls that seem to inhabit that forum. >:(
Later, it was lifted, but as you might expect my participation is almost nil.

Wait… this reminds me of a little quiz:
1) Military Intelligence
2) Customer Service
3) Jumbo Shrimp
4) anti-femuscle she-hulk forum member
5) smart blond
Which one of these, despite them all being paradoxes, makes absolutely no sense?
(Sorry it's been a while since I last posted. Real Life gave me a call that I had to answer. I left a message. 😉 )
November 8, 2007 at 6:59 pm #63111LingsterKeymasterI posted again from a different IP:

If he tells me I'm banned, then I'll stay off. But if he just wants to go around banning IP addresses, then that's a different story.
November 8, 2007 at 7:40 pm #63112Prophet TenebraeParticipantGiven the fact all your posts regarding the delay for She-Hulk #23, calling Edward Cunningham "anti-American" or whatever it was, have been removed – I would rather assume that this has little to do with Shulkie.com and more to do with what Eddie doubtless perceived as you antagonising him.
Of course, to just off and ban someone without any warning or anything seems somewhat unhelpful but there you go.

I didn't call him anti-American. I did make fun of him for finding fault with the United States of America as a nation because of comic book pricing and delivery schedules in Canada. Regardless, he did not counter-post or explain himself, so I assume that me making fun of him was a secondary or tertiary cause.
But I'm glad you consider banning someone without explanation to be 'unhelpful'.
November 8, 2007 at 11:07 pm #63115Silent OneParticipantI've helped mod message boards in the past (and in fact I currently am a mod elsewhere) and you never ever ban someone, even temporarily, without notifying them unless it's something so blatantly wrong like posting kiddie porn. That sort of moderating is just bad on any level.
Though just to play devils advocate (because it's a hobby of mine) perhaps they banned an IP range you happened to fall into. *shrug* At least that's the only semi reasonable excuse I can imagine.
