Reason
ParticipantAll joking aside, I think that dynamic (or something very much like it) is exactly what's at work. How many people don't know the stereotypical scenario of the little kid who doesn't want to drag his little sister around with him for that reason, that she can't keep up? And what are kids but a reflection of adults' more primal selves? Men want women who can keep up with them — some of us want women we're challenged to keep up with. No big mystery involved.
This is a good theory; I don't think I've quite thought of it that way before.
I've often thought about it in terms of genes. I read somewhere that the type of person we are attracted to is a blend of ourselves and the opposite. I guess that's so we choose someone with complementary genes, so that their genetic strengths will make up for our genetic weaknesses and vice versa. For whatever reason, our genes have decided that to have intelligent, strong and healthy offspring, we need to mate with an ultra-strong female.

I agree with this (my Biology background is nodding his nead too…). Personality wise I'm looking for a good blend that is compatible with mine, but physically, I'm an average height, skinny guy, with very little potential to add muscle, hence my attraction to a woman who can build what I don't have… Tall helps too!
Not sure if that makes sense but it makes sense to me.

As a wheelchair user whose disabilty causes short stature, I understand you perfectly. 🙂
