    True vintage femuscle – unfortunately the desperately frumpy clothes hide what I imagine would have been a very impresive lady :'(.  Still, she was obviously a pioneer and I raise my glass to her.  Thanks Lingster.

    I know what you're saying Lingster – that's what I meant too.  We're so used to a post-60s society where skimpy clothing is acceptable that the morals of an earlier generation seem antiquated and (in this case frustrating).  What I meant was that it would be cool to compare her physique with modern-day fitness competitors/fbbs in modern-day clothing.
    I do, however, as I said, have an enormous amount of respect for anyone with the guts to step outside of what contemporary society says is acceptable because of a firm conviction that the moral or accepted code or philosophy needs to change, whatever area of life that may be in.  For a woman in a highly patriarchal society to do what Ms Leers did in building her body as she wanted must have taken great courage.  I wonder what she would make of fitness and FBB today?
