I'll never understand that.  Apparently there is nothing wrong with a woman being out of shape and overweight, but heaven forbid she pick up some weights and become fit and muscular.  That would be disgusting!

You should have told her "it's not as disgusting as dropping dead of a heart attack at 50, fatty!!!"  ;D

Well. Usually people that's too coward and lazy to try and challenge anything in life gets infuriated with people that looks diferent that the "standard" appeareance.
They NEED to say something to regain their puny safe inner-balance themselves. Sometimes, if they feel too inferior they must ACT to PROVE they're superior by attacking.
The same happens to me in an intelectual level.
In order to avoid being targeted for aggression Im usually forced to evacuate the idiotic-populated premises If I, by accident, show any of the following skills:

    * Add 2 + 2 without brain damage
    * Use a computer to actually compute anything
    * Know of the existance of any country or city farther than 2000kms
    * Repair ANY malfunctioning equipment with more than 12 pieces
    * Ability to name any book, music or graphical piece older than my own life span.
    * Speak more than one language
    * Ability to detect logical inconsistences in another human being's statement

I also usually commit the sin of trying to enlighten people around me and, more than once, it has ended badly to me.

Wear your SUPER body proudly, envy is just the negative acknowledge of superiority.

It's a fact of life that anything out of the ordinary is gonna get both positive and negative reactions from people. The fact that she was so nasty about it just speaks volumes about the low quality of person she is, as does her own unfit figure. Just bear in mind that for every person like her there would be people who have the opposite reaction and would look at you as an amazon goddess, but most people would just admire the results of your hard work.

Just how big are you anyway? I always pictured you as a fitness type chick, but maybe even that's too much for some people.

It's both surprising, and not, that this sort of thing still occurs.

Just curious, what part of the country are you in?

And two, you said you were standing in line – what was the reaction of the clerk/cashier or any of the other people within earshot to her bigoted commentary?

Some people just don't have manners. They are very close minded and don't understand anthing that's different. I feel a bit sorry for them since there are so much every kind of people, whose views, looks, attitudes are varying and that is what makes us special. I'm not saying that I tolerate theyre behaviour, but they are going to miss a lot of different thoughs and lifestyles that way.

I know it's very annoying to get that kind of attention, but remember that that the one who is being different negatively is not you but is the one making those comments. She lack some basic manners.

Sorry to hear about that Ashlee. Some people should know when to shut up… or look at themselves in a mirror first.

Yah, I'm curious about that too. Where I live, we get something like 8 months of cold winter and just a few months of nice hot weather. So when my 6' tall, busty and fit girl goes out in shorts and tanks, she turns a few heads. But I was always under the impression that if we lived in California for example, it wouldn't be so bad… or at least that the bad comments and hateful stares would be less common.

    A bit off-topic but anyway.

Today seems to be first warm day here in Finland this year. It's 21° (70°F) here and people haven't seem to notice it's not winter anymore. Long sleeves, jackets, like it is really needed out there. Luckily some women wear summery skirts and tops, but it's not june yeat so I guess you need overals then here.

Here you can't see much athletic or muscular women, so I guess you would get lots of attention here. But here people are quite introverted hence they wouldn't probably comment much.
