This is sport is full of DOUBLE STANDARDS , when judging Female Bodybuilders.
Does anyone ever critique genetically male bodybuilders as being attractive or not. . Personally, I think not.
Most male bodybuilders are judged by their muscularity , not their attractiveness .In case you haven't noticed, male bodybuilding is slipping in popularity. The guys have gotten totally out of hand. Their muscles have got so big and overdeveloped, they can barely move or walk. They've become characatures of bodybuilders, like the fighter in the Bugs Bunny cartoon that flexes and muscles keep popping up on top of muscles until you can't see his head.
Most women I know see a male bodybuilder and their first reaction is "Ewwwwwwwww" or "That's gross"
Basically, the same reaction I had to Ms Wang.
October 28, 2009 at 4:55 am #87750LingsterKeymasterThe reason male bodybuilding still attracts sponsorships is that it still sells supplements. The reason female bodybuilding is dead is that it doesn't.
The way to bring physique competitions for women back to prominence is to find a sponsorship revenue model that makes the events money-makers. Muscularity had a brief vogue in the 80s when it was perceived as avant garde, and it is more popular in some countries than in others. However, the current zeitgeist in the western world is that men and women alike should eschew masculine virtues and embrace feminine virtues. As strength is a masculine virtue, it will not again be held up for admiration for quite some time.

I scrolled throgh this thread wondering how long it would take for one of us to say, "That's no woman! It's a man, baby!"
I would be afraid that a session with her might involve taking a cock up my ass. No thanks >:(
In her defense, she only slightly less feminine than the Great Kahali

October 28, 2009 at 7:06 pm #87753Oh-mi-kazeParticipantI'm not the person to say that an FBB should be graded on attractiveness (I'm a silent supporter of Iris Kyle's Olympia win and I agree with the belief that FBB contests should leave out attractiveness as a judging standard). There is, however, a serious problem with this picture: "she" has an undeniably male face, narrow hips, a deeper voice range than mine (I'm a high school and college baritone singer), and not even a hint that she is female. God help me, the first thought I had upon seeing the pics was, "Why the hell is a male bodybuilder wearing a bikini top?"
Well, I'm not sure. It may be that the short hair with all those characteristics threw me off, or perhaps cpbell's opinions are wearing me down. However, I have to say that if Caroline Wang is indeed naturally female, that's a bigger gender bender than Renee Toney.

Oi! I don't try to wear anyone down LOL ;D ;). Given the current situation, I also agree with Iris getting the MsO, despiter my joking that it was utterly inevitable. My argument is that the judging criteria are lousy, so the winners tend to be poor ambassadors for female physique-building.
As to his/her voice – I didn't dare watch the videos! ::)
October 28, 2009 at 10:01 pm #87756missmonstermusclesParticipantGreat to see this heated debate.
Here's another photo of Caroline Wang, this time she's standing next to another competitor.
It appears to me that they're being judged not only by their physiques but by their haircuts ? Just a theoryOctober 28, 2009 at 11:31 pm #87757TC2ParticipantWhat the hell is this competition? Both of them look like dudes, what a massive turn off. I understand how some people feel that FBB should be based on just pure muscularity. However, the word in front of bodybuilder is FEMALE bodybuilder. Therefore, my personal opinion is that a woman should pump her body to the maximum of what she can naturally achieve. Not go over the edge and transform herself into a male counterpart.
October 29, 2009 at 12:55 am #87758missmonstermusclesParticipantI believe , personally, that over the last 20yrs bodybuilding has become a non-gender specific sport .
Bodybuilding has always been an EXHIBITION sport, it's a popularity contest , the winners are chosen by judges.If you've seen female football players dressed in uniform , would you say that they look too masculine to qualify as female? The uniform fits the sport, it's not gender specific.
The interesting thing about Caroline Wang is that she has female genitalia , which by most medical standards would qualify her as female. However by current "popular taste" she appears too masculine to qualify her as female.
So now who's actually qualified to be a judge in the sport of bodybuilding;
.. a gym owner, a business sponsor, a fellow sport's person or a medical doctor? -
